MAS 2025: GWM Tank 500 HEV launched in Malaysia – Hybrid 7-seater SUV RM 328,800

KUALA LUMPUR: GWM Malaysia has officially launched the Tank 500 HEV at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025, introducing a powerful yet efficient full-size hybrid SUV to the local market. With a price tag of RM 328,800, the seven-seater SUV combines premium features, off-road capability, and better fuel efficiency than typical large SUVs.

Hybrid power with big SUV performance

Instead of a traditional large-displacement engine, the Tank 500 HEV is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with an electric motor, delivering a combined output of 346 PS and 648 Nm. 

Power is sent to all four wheels through a sophisticated 9-speed Hydraulic Automatic Transmission (HAT) and a 4WD system, making it capable both on the highway and off the beaten track.

Dimensions and design

The GWM Tank 500 measures 5,078 mm long, 1,934 mm wide, and 1,905 mm tall, with a 2,850 mm wheelbase—placing it in the same league as the Toyota Land Cruiser and Range Rover in terms of size. 

It offers a commanding road presence with bold styling, LED headlights, a large front grille, roof rails, panoramic sunroof, power tailgate, and 20-inch alloy wheels.

Built for off-road and on-road confidence

Equipped with an Intelligent All-Terrain System, the Tank 500 HEV offers 11 drive modes, Tank Turn function, Off-road Cruise Control, transparent chassis view, and M-Lock for locked differentials. On normal roads, the Level 2+ ADAS suite includes adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, autonomous emergency braking, and blind spot monitoring.

Premium Interior and technology

Inside, the Tank 500 offers three rows of seating, upholstered in quilted Nappa leather with ventilation and massage functions for the front row. A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is paired with a large 14.6-inch central infotainment display, which supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Safety and ADAS features

Safety is a strong point for the Tank 500 HEV, with six airbags and a comprehensive advanced driver assistance system. Features include:

• Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go
• Lane Centring and Keeping Assist
• Blind Spot Monitoring
• Front and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert with Auto Brake

Availability and colour options

The GWM Tank 500 HEV will be available at 14 selected GWM dealerships nationwide, including in key locations such as Jalan Ipoh, Glenmarie, Setia Alam, USJ, Butterworth, Seremban, and Johor Bahru. 

Colour options include Sun Black, Crystal Gray, and Hamilton White.
