Malaysia gets the 2021 Audi Q2 facelift
KUALA LUMPUR: Audi Malaysia has introduced the facelifted Q2 in the local market. The five-seater all-rounder benefits from quite a few updates both inside and out which we’ll be discussing in detail.
Starting with the performance enhancements, the Audi Q2 bids farewell to the ongoing seven-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch transmission and gets a new eight-speed Tiptronic automatic unit. The new gearbox is paired to the same tried and tested 1.4-litre direct-injected TFSI four-cylinder turbocharged mill making a maximum power of 150 hp along with a peak torque of 250 Nm.
The engine and transmission system propels the SUV to complete the century sprint in 8.6 seconds (i.e. 0.1 second slower than the pre-facelift model). The new Q2 can attain a top speed of 218 kmph (i.e. 6 kmph more than the pre-facelift version). The pre-facelift model registered fuel consumption and CO2 emission at 18.87 kmph and 122g/km respectively, the figures are now changed to 16.39 kmph and 122g/km.
After the performance, let’s now discuss the new Q2’s exterior revisions. The facelift model gets new bumpers, larger front-side intakes, a new rectangular central exhaust, and body-coloured side blade. Part of the car’s standard exterior kit is - Matrix LED headlamps, LED rear combination lamps with dynamic turn signals, five-arm Y-style 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 215/55 tyres, and LED DRLs with a headlamp washer.
The cabin benefits from several add-ons like rear passenger UBS charging ports, ambient lighting, leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel, auto-dimming frameless rearview mirror, and leather/leatherette upholstery. The kit also includes auto lights & wipers, a 10-speaker 180W sound system, Bluetooth interface, cruise control, progressive steering, auto air-con system, comfort key, foldable rear seats, electric tailgate, smartphone interface, Audi virtual cockpit, and Audi drive select.
The Q2 facelift safety specs are improved too. The standard kit includes six airbags, immobiliser, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system, brake pad wear indicator, and ISOFIX child seat.
The New Audi Q2 price tag reads RM 236,900 (on-the-road without insurance), including a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty. Audi Malaysia is also offering a few optional luxury elements like sports seats (RM 5,096) and Band & Olufsen audio (RM 7,573).
