Malaysia Autoshow 2019 - BMW i3 to be showcased at the event

KUALA LUMPUR: With only one day left, 2019 Malaysia Autoshow will be a full blast event with so much on offer. With over 32 OEMs participating along with 170 exhibitors from seven countries, the event is expecting a turnout of around 35,000 visitors. Also, it has been confirmed that more than 100 cars will be displayed at the Hall A of the Malaysian Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS), the scheduled venue for the auto show from 11th to 14th April. With a theme of ‘Mobility for All’ this year’s prime focus will be the newest Energy Efficient Models. Speaking of which, on display will be the plush and efficient BMW i3.

Globally, the BMW i3 is available in two variants - the standard i3 and i3 w/ Range Extender. We are expecting to receive the standard model that displays a maximum power of 170 hp via its AC electric motor with 42 kWh high voltage battery. The power is sent to the rear wheels, plus the battery takes six hours to charge fully. Its performance sheet tells that 0 to 97 kmph run takes 7.2 seconds. As can be expected from a car of its stature, the i3 gets many innovative techs that not just help under the hood but also on the comfort, convenience, and safety front.

The electric car comes with a lot of features, here’s a glimpse of the same -

• Rearview camera for improved manoeuvres in complicated situations
• Park Distance Control for automated guidance
• Unique moonroof for that open feeling
• Active driving assistant features like Frontal Collision Warning with Collision Mitigation, Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go, and more

• Standard 3-stage heated front seats
• Automatic climate control with micro filter, temperature control, automatic air circulation
• Rain-sensing windshield with adjustable speed and automatic headlight control

While these were some of the standard comfort and convenience features, the i3 is equally stocked when it comes to instrumentation and connectivity. On the dash is present a 6.5-inch high-resolution screen with BMW navigation business system coupled to iDRive Controller and programmable memory buttons. Also, part of the standard package is Apple CarPlay, Dynamic Cruise Control, BMW TeleService, Connected eDrive Service, Bluetooth wireless tech, on-board computer with check control, and more.
