Lexus RX, the seven seated crossover is not in the production line for now!
Kuala Lumpur: Toyota President Akio Toyoda has put the brakes on the production of it's seven-seated crossover from Lexus. He said dealers are always asking him for the model, but his response is "That's the Toyota brand." The news was a bit of a shocker as the car was already spied and many pictures of this seven seater SUV surfaced the internet creating an anticipated buzz around its launch.

Even Jeff Bracken the Group Vice President and General Manager of Lexus RX and Lexus previously hinted officially that the car is coming pretty soon. He said that Lexus dealers in America have continuously complained about the lack of a third-row seating position in Lexus vehicles and it is resulting in around a “35,000-units-a-year opportunity.” for the company. Also, Toyota's North America’s CEO Jim Lentz asserted that a three-row SUV was a better bet over the low-volume Lexus RC Coupe.
However the President of Toyota, Akio Toyoda has clearly announced that the Lexus-badged seven-seat crossover was out of the plan at the moment. According to him, dealers always ask for more at once, but there is a sequence of things, of introducing models. Lexus' focus is more on enhancing the brand value over the softer aspects of cars rather than the bulky big crossovers.

He explained that he had different aims when it came to the positioning of both Lexus and Toyota. “We are trying to position Lexus vehicles as emotional and cool. For Toyota, I attach greater value to family, convenience, fun-to-drive,” Toyoda said, adding that he would like for Lexus to be sold with a “dream or a story.” This positioning for Lexus was the reason why the Lexus RC Coupe was brought to life.
“We are now entering a new chapter, which is symbolised by the LF-FC concept. If it had been a few years ago, the vehicle symbolising the new chapter would have been a station wagon. If your focus is selling more cars, as many as possible, a station wagon would be of interest.” he said.
Lexus is also currently working over the production version of it's critically acclaimed LF-LC concept and that will go a long way in helping Lexus embrace their new emotional and cool mantra. Toyoda didn't reveal much about that car, but sources suggest that it will be offered with a 5.0-liter V8 engine as well as a hybridized engine that produces approximately 500 bhp (372 kW). Rumors also have it that the car might also receive a high-performance F variant with a twin-turbo V8 that develops more than 600 bhp (447 kW).
