Lexus Malaysia Releases Detailed Specs for IS 200t on its Site

Kuala Lumpur: Lexus Malaysia has finally revealed new specifications for Lexus IS 200t on its Malaysian website. While there is nothing new regarding its designing, but a few minor updates can be noticed in its engine, weight, transmission and some safety features. The high prices of this car remain the same as before, but its trims have been narrowed down to Premium, Luxury and F-Sport.

Under the hood, it would be sharing the same mill with that of its compact crossover SUV, dubbed as Lexus NX 200t. It would be powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine which churns out a maximum power of 241 hp at 5800 rpm along with a commanding torque of 350 Nm at 1650 to 4400 rpm. It would be further paired with a new eight-speed Sports Direct Shift automatic gearbox, unlike the outgoing six-speed transmission.

Talking about the suspension, it is equipped with Double Wishbone front suspension and Multi-link rear suspension while its breaking mechanism consist of front and rear ventilated disc brakes. Now the 200t is faster than before by 1.1 seconds as it completes the century sprint in just 7 seconds which was previously done in 8.1 seconds. The top speed for this car has also increased from 225 kmph to 230 kmph. Apart from that, the new IS 200t weighs a little bit more now as its kerb weight has come up to 1620 kg while gross weight has increased to 2125 kg.

A 10 airbag mechanism is also updated which reduces the impact of a collision. The front seat occupants get an added knee protection while at the back full-length side curtain airbags keep rear passengers safe. It is also integrated with blind spot monitor and rear cross traffic alert which increases safety when making lane changes and reversing. With these updates, the prices have also gone up. The Premium starts at RM278,400 while the Luxury is priced at RM311,900 and the range-topping F-Sport is rolled out with a price tag of RM344,900.
