Jetour Dashing and X70 Plus CKD assembly begins in Indonesia; Malaysia next?
KUALA LUMPUR: After Jaecoo and Omoda, the Chinese automaker Chery is gearing up to introduce yet another sub-brand in Malaysia, Jetour. This upcoming Chinese brand was first seen at the Malaysia Autoshow 2024, previewing its two SUVs, Dashing and X70 Plus.

The Jetour Dashing is priced at IDR 389.8 million (approx RM 109k), and the X70 Plus costs IDR 414.8 million (approx RM 116k) in Indonesia.Well, the latest development around Jetour is that it has begun assembling SUVs in Indonesia, marking a significant step in its regional expansion. This move is part of the automaker’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence in Southeast Asia as the local assembly of Jetour vehicles in Malaysia has already been confirmed.
Jetour Indonesia will carry out the local assembly of the Dashing and X70 Plus at the newly operational plant in Bekasi, owned by local partner PT Handal Indonesia Motor (HIM). The said facility also manufactures Chery Tiggo and Omoda models, as well as Neta EVs.
President Director of Jetour Motor Indonesia, Mr. Jacky Yang, said, “This is a tangible manifestation of our commitment to contribute to the development of the automotive industry in Indonesia.”
The Jetour Dashing and X70 Plus made their Indonesian debut at the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2024 in July. The SUVs are likely to launch in Indonesia later this month.
Hailing from the brand’s family travel series, the Jetour Dashing, and X70 Plus have gained wide recognition in various global markets. The Dashing is a stylish 5-seater SUV specially designed for younger drivers while the X70 Plus is a smart and spacious 7-seater SUV ideal for long-distance travel.
Both are powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine kicking out a maximum power of 156 PS at 5,500 rpm and a peak torque of 230 Nm from 1,750 rpm to 4,000 rpm. The engine is coupled with a six-speed wet dual-clutch gearbox sending power to the front wheels. After the initial rollout, the automaker will be adding hybrid variants to the lineup at a later date.
Some of the creature comforts you can find inside the Jetour Dashing are - dual 10.25-inch displays, a 50W wireless charging pad, remote engine start, automatic air-conditioning, CN95 filter, a six-way power driver’s seat, a 540-degree panoramic imaging, and several advanced driver-assistance systems.
The Jetour X70 Plus, on the other hand, comes equipped with a Mercedes-style widescreen display, a 360-degree camera system, paddle shifters, a panoramic glass sunroof, and advanced driver-assistance bits.
