Hyundai Tucson - Reasons to buy

Hyundai Tucson has been one of the leading C-segment SUVs in Malaysia. It is the second only SUV that Hyundai has got in the country; the other one is the Hyundai Santa Fe. Hyundai launched a facelifted variant of the Tucson sometime during the last quarter of 2018. It was a much-needed upgrade to keep the SUV at par with the growing competition. There is no doubt that even today, the Hyundai Tucson would be a great buy. And why should you buy it? Here are a few reasons.

Eye-catching looks

The latest Hyundai Tucson is definitely a head turner. Hyundai has done a commendable job in making this avatar as a proper facelift. The sharp and aggressive headlamps along with the gorgeous LED DRLs impart an imposing look at the front. Also, there are two front grille designs which depend on the variant you pick. The 1.6L model gets a cascading grille, which looks refreshing and more premium and stylish, whereas the 2.0L model gets a regular grille with horizontal chrome slats. Both of them suits the fascia of the new Tucson.

The side profile of the new Tucson is handled by 17-inch alloy wheels. There is also a strong character line that runs above the chrome door handles from the front door to the rear. And at the rear, you get a set of two-piece combination tail lamp. For that added sportiness, Hyundai has also provided a roof-mounted spoiler. Overall, the Tucson would score good points in aesthetics.

Impressive interior

The all-black interior of the Hyundai Tucson is something that we all appreciate. This really gives the car a sporty feel. The level of fit and finish is high and the use of materials is also top-notch. The 7-inch freestanding infotainment system looks great and also supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Hyundai is very generous when it comes to providing features in its cars. Pick up the Hyundai Tucson specs sheet and you’d need a good amount of time to go through all of it. There is dual-zone climate control, USB and auxiliary inputs, a 12-volt socket, electronic parking brake, electrochromic rear-view mirror, an eight-way powered driver seat with two-way lumbar support, a 4.2-inch multi-info display, a leather-wrapped dashboard, etc.

Hyundai has also taken into account the comfort of the passengers. The leather seats are extremely comfortable to sit on as they are nicely contoured and bolstered. There is also a good amount of space for all the occupants to move around. This adds to the overall riding experience in the Tucson.

Engine options

The new Hyundai Tucson is available in two variants - 1.6L Turbo and 2.0L Elegance. The former model comes with a 1.6-litre T-GDI engine that has been programmed to churn out a max power of 177 PS and generate a peak torque of 265 Nm. This is the same engine that we had in the earlier model. Now it comes with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The 2.0L Elegance model has a 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated engine with 155 PS of max power and 192 Nm of peak torque. The transmission mated to this is a 6-speed automatic.

Hyundai has also provided three driving modes - normal, sports, and eco. So, you can choose the mode as per your driving mood and/or requirements. However, these driving modes are available only in the 1.6L variant.

Safety features

Hyundai is also very active when it comes to the list of safety features in its products. And the Tucson is no exception. There are 6 airbags (in the 1.6L model), ABS, electronic stability control, hill start assist control, downhill brake control, brake assist system, vehicle stability management, and a rearview camera.

So, these were some of the reasons that should convince you to buy the latest Hyundai Tucson. Like mentioned, it is available in two variants - 1.6L Turbo and 2.0L Elegance - which come in 4 different colors - Phantom Black, Platinum Silver, Cream White, and Dusk Blue. The Hyundai Tucson price for the 1.6L model is RM 143,888 whereas the 2.0L variant carries a tag of RM 123,888.
