Hyundai releases specs and a new set of images for Kona Electric
KUALA LUMPUR: It was a few months back Hyundai unveiled the all-new Kona and now the automaker is busy preparing for the soon introduction of the Kona Electric.

Variants & battery options
The all-new Kona Electric is offered in two versions - ‘Standard Range’ and Long Range’. The former is equipped with a 48.4 kWh battery and the latter gets a 65.4 kWh battery.
Powertrain configuration
The Standard Range Kona Electric comes with a front-mounted single e-motor generating 156 hp and 255 Nm. The Longe Range model also gets a front-mounted single e-motor, however, here the setup makes a little bit more power, i.e., 218 hp and 255 Nm.
Charging
Built on a 400V architecture, the new Kona Electric’s full charging details are yet to be revealed. However, we know that the EV will take 41 minuses to charge from 10 to 80%.
The car also comes with a V2L function (max output 3.13 kW) with a socket on the charging port and inside the car as well.
Design
In terms of design language, the Kona Electric showcases a stylish front with continuous LED treatment for that signature Hyundai look. As mentioned, the Kona Electric gets a frunk that has never been available before.
Cabin features
The interior of the new Kona Electric comes loaded with several high-tech features including -
- A twin 12.3-inch panoramic display with full over-the-air (OTA) updates
- Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC)
- An eight-speaker Bose Premium Sound System
- Steering wheel with more controls
Safety
The new Kona Electric gets its fair share of safety features, part of which is a brand’s SmartSense Advanced Driver Assistance System along with active/passive safety gears. The list of safety features includes -
- Level 2 autonomous driving
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA)
- Blind-spot View Monitor (BVM)
- Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA)
- Driver Status Monitor (DSM)
