Hyundai opens bookings for Tucson facelift

KUALA LUMPUR: We have had news about the 2019 Hyundai Tucson facelift set to release soon, and now the company has announced the booking line for the car has opened and is set to be launched by the end of October.

There are a few cosmetic changes in the facelifted version, which include the re-designed grille up front and DRLs on the fog lamps. The rear section is also revised with tweaked tail lights and the bumper. Also, newly designed 17-inch wheels are a part of the upcoming Tucson.

At the time when the facelifted Tucson was teased by Hyundai Malaysia, there weren’t a lot of details given. However, now we have a myriad of names from the feature-list, which includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, USB charging ports for the rear, etc. Also, to be more competitive in the market, the facelift has been given a lot of other technologies like driver’s assistance programmes including AED (autonomous emergency braking), Advanced Cruise Control and Lane Keeping Assist.

Mr. Dennis Ho, the Managing Director of Sime Darby has said that the new Tucson is much more appealing than what it was earlier, especially with the makeover in design, which would make it one of the most popular SUVs in the country. And hence, the company expects a good response from the prospect customers.

Mechanically, there will be two engine options available - a turbocharged 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre. The  177 PS 1.6-litre unit is the same as the company already offers in the current version. This turbo unit will be coupled with a 7-speed gearbox. As for the 265 PS producing non-turbo option, a 6-speed transmission would do the duty. 

We can expect the Tucson facelift to be priced at around RM 123,888 that would be the OTR without the insurance.
