Honda teamed up with SOCAR to support frontline workers
KUALA LUMPUR: Amid the coronavirus pandemic, car companies are not only supporting the government in several ways but also extending their support to the frontliners who are national heroes at this critical moment. A couple of days back, Volkswagen announced several benefits for those VW customers who are working as coronavirus frontliners. And now, Honda has also come up with an initiative to acknowledge the efforts of these brave spirit people.
The Japanese automaker teamed up with the leading car-sharing network of the country, SOCAR, and rolled out the mobility support for its customers. The frontliners who are not able to access their vehicles during the MCO will now have a temporary mobility solution i.e., and they can have a Honda City for one month to carry out their duties smoothly. For this, 50 units of Honda City will be provided by SOCAR, and all rental charges will be borne by Honda.
Toichi Ishiyama, managing director and CEO of Honda Malaysia, said, “Everyone is playing their part in the fight against the COVID-19 outbreak, and frontliners hold an even more important role in these difficult times. The past few weeks have not been easy for all in Malaysia, especially the frontliners who are working tirelessly to protect Malaysia from the pandemic.”
He added, “Despite having to withstand the extra strain that is being put on them by the current situation, their selfless dedication and sacrifice have gained the utmost respect from people in Malaysia and earned worldwide recognition. On behalf of Honda Malaysia, “I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the frontliners; the battle against COVID-19 would have been tougher without their unwavering perseverance,” said Ishiyama.
The initiative with the car-sharing company is introduced to help the frontliners whose Honda cars are currently out of service. Ishiyama ended it up by saying, “We believe we are stronger together, and by supporting each other, we can overcome all obstacles.”
For inquiry, the frontliners who are Honda customers can log onto Honda Malaysia’s website, and then Honda executives will contact them for the necessary arrangement.
