The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max has proven to be a safe car with a five-star safety rating received in ANCAP crash tests. What advanced safety assistance systems are offered with the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max?
The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max comes packed with autonomous emergency braking, lane support system, lane departure warning, emergency lane keeping, advanced speed assistance system, and adaptive cruise control with integrated cruise assist.ANCAP awarded the Tiggo 8 Pro Max a five-star rating in crash tests, applicable to all its variants. Notably, the results are largely based on Tiggo 7 Pro testing conducted last year. However, the safety agency also performed additional pedestrian protection tests on the Tiggo 8 and evaluated the supplementary technical information provided by the manufacturer to identify any potential differences.
The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max achieved the following scores across the different categories -
Adult Occupant Protection |
88% |
Child Occupant Protection |
87% |
Vulnerable Road User Protection |
79% |
Safety Assist |
86% |
In the Adult Occupant Protection category, the vehicle performed well with overall good protection. However, some areas where it needs improvement are weak chest protection for the driver in frontal-offset tests and adequate protection for the lower legs.
The Chery SUV also performed well in Child Occupant Protection category crash tests. It showed good protection for both 6 and 10-year-old dummies in frontal offset and side-impact tests. The second row of the vehicle comes equipped with top tether anchorages. However, the third row misses out on that. Thus, ANCAP suggested installing child restraints in the third row.
In the case of Vulnerable Road User Protection, the bonnet of the Tiggo Pro Max provided good or adequate head protection to pedestrians. ANCAP also found that AEB works well and is capable of detecting and reacting to vulnerable road users such as pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists.
When it comes to safety assists, systems like lane support system, autonomous emergency braking, lane support system, lane departure warning, and speed assistance system showed good performance.
“Chery’s latest offering adds to their current five-star SUV lineup, with safer options for buyers,” said ANCAP Chief Executive Officer, Carla Hoorweg.
Closer to home, the Tiggo 8 Pro is offered in a single Luxury variant, priced at RM 159,800.
