Chery Omoda E5 passes ANCAP and NCAP crash tests with flying colours
KUALA LUMPUR: The all-electric variant of the Chery Omoda 5, the E5, recently proved its safety credentials by grabbing a 5-star rating in ANCAP (Australasian New Car Assessment Programme) and NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) crash results.

“This five-star rating for the Omoda E5 will be a welcome addition to the shopping lists of consumers and fleets in the market for a five-star EV,” said ANCAP CEO, Carla Hoorweg.
Launched in Malaysia in March this year, the Chery Omoda E5 comes in a sole variant priced at RM 146,800. The local assembly of the EV recently began at the Inokom plant.
Speaking of the Omoda E5 safety features, the EV is equipped with the latest-gen Advanced Driver Assistance System 2.5 (ADAS 2.5) system. The pack comprises a total of 17 functions, integrating advanced sensors, artificial intelligence, and connectivity features. This establishes a new standard for advanced driver assistance systems in the EV market.

During the crash test, “AEB accurately identifies targets over a broad speed range and responds swiftly to mitigate collision risks, setting a benchmark in active safety performance.”
Adding to the safety are ergonomically engineered child seat interfaces and advanced airbag systems, which precisely calibrate deployment timing and coverage and offer maximum protection for children.
