Chery joined hands with Tiong Nam for spare parts warehousing and transportation

KUALA LUMPUR: The official relaunching of the Chery brand in Malaysia is set for July 6, 2023, when it will be introducing two new cars - Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro. Ahead of the official comeback, the automaker has announced that it has made a strategic partnership agreement with Tiong Nam Logistics Holdings Bhd.

Tiong Nam is the leading logistics and warehousing service provider in Malaysia that has a vast network of more than 90 spare parts warehouses, strategically positioned throughout the entire country. According to the signed agreement, it will be handling Chery's spare parts warehousing and transportation nationwide, including heavy-duty vehicle models like the Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro.

While signing the deal, Leo Chen, Country Director of Chery Malaysia, expressed that he sees Malaysia as a highly promising market in the Southeast Asian region. The brand’s foray into Malaysia will help it in establishing connections with neighbouring countries and strengthening its market influence in the region.

“The cooperation agreement signifies the dawn of a new collaboration is just the beginning,” he added. While following Chery's 4P+2P working mechanism, the two brands will make a strong team to provide excellent service to Malaysian customers.

Upcoming Chery cars in Malaysia

As mentioned above, the brand will be introducing two new cars next month viz. Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro. The Omoda 5 is a 5-seater SUV that underpins the brand’s ‘Art in Motion' design philosophy. It will come powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder mill kicking out a maximum power of 154 hp along with a peak torque of 230 Nm. The power is sent to the front wheels via a CVT gearbox.

The Tiggo 8 Pro, on the other hand, is a 7-seater SUV that will run on a 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder unit generating 250 hp and 390 Nm. The engine comes mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission sending power to the front wheels of the SUV.
