BMW X7 gets a new variant in Malaysia, the xDrive40i M Sport

KUALA LUMPUR: Back in April, BMW introduced the all-new updated version of the X7 in the global market that features a reworked exterior and interior and new mild-hybrid powertrains. Well, ahead of receiving the upgraded model, the local market is treated by an all-new trim of the pre-facelift X7, called the xDrive40i M Sport. The new variant joins the existing xDrive40i Design Pure Excellence, making it a two-variant lineup.

Before diving deep into the specifications, let’s have a look at the 2022 BMW X7 variant-wise price list -

The base prices include a two-year, unlimited mileage standard warranty, whereas the extended package converts into a five-year, unlimited mileage and also adds a five-year complimentary service. 

So, what all the new X7 variant offers for the extra price, let’s know -

• As the name implies, the xDrive40i M Sport brings on board an M Aerodynamics package, comprising a distinctive bumper with prominent air intakes and side skirts. On the rear, it adds pronounced exhaust finishers with silver trim accents and higher-positioned reflectors
• The M package also equipped the SAV with bigger 22-inch 758 M alloy wheels and M Sport brakes mated to blue callipers
• In place of chrome pieces, the new trim flaunts the Individual exterior line aluminium satin finish
• Inside, the M Sport trim differentiates itself from the Design Pure Excellence with the M Sport leather steering wheel and new Fineline black wooden trimming on the dash
• An exclusive Arctic Grey Brilliant Effect exterior shade is also offered for the new model along with the ongoing Black Sapphire, Mineral White, and Manhattan Metallic

The features common in both X7 variants are BMW Live Cockpit Professional, BMW iDrive 8.0 operating system, BMW Laserlight system, 16-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system,  panoramic glass roof, Driving Assistant, Adaptive cruise control, Parking Assistant Plus, 360-degree surround-view monitor and more.

Things are also identical under the hood as the newly launched version is powered by the same 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six engine generating maximum power of 340 hp and a peak torque of 450 Nm. The power is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed Steptronic Sports automatic transmission, enabling the SUV to hit the century sprint in 6.1 seconds.
