BMW X1 sDrive20i M Sport Interior: In pics
The BMW X1 is one of the best-selling vehicles in its class today thanks to its inoffensive formula of style, enough space, dynamic performance, and a strong build clubbed with an affordable price tag. Its latest version is available in two trims in Malaysia - BMW X1 sDrive18i and BMW X1 sDrive20i M Sport, priced at RM 194,738 and RM 216,780, respectively. The mentioned prices are on-the-road, with ongoing SST exemption, and without insurance.
In today’s story, we will take you through the interior gallery of the sportier X1 sDrive20i M Sport, but before that let’s take a brief look at its exterior and engine specs.
The latest BMW X1 sDrive20i M Sport made its Malaysian debut last year with design and tech enhancements. It emanates a stronger road presence with a larger kidney grille, larger air intakes and hexagonal-shaped LED headlights. There is also a “Welcome Light Carpet” that features “X1” on the ground when the car gets unlock. On the rear, we can see a single LED bar drawing the familiar L signature. For better efficiency and athleticism, the luxury compact crossover features an M Sport Suspension and the M Aerodynamics Package, and 18-inch M light-alloy wheels in Double-Spoke Style.
Under the hood, the X1 sDrive20i M Sport equips a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine generating a maximum power output of 192 hp at 5,000-6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 280 Nm between 1,350 to 4,600 rpm. The engine is paired with a 7-Speed Steptronic Dual Clutch Sport transmission. On the performance front, the car runs from naught to 100 kmph in 7.6 seconds with a top speed of 224 kmph. The fuel efficiency is rated at 15.38 kmpl.
So, without any further ado, here’s an in-depth look at the BMW X1 sDrive20i M Sport cabin.
Cabin ambience
Inside the cabin, things look really classy with dashboard trims finished in aluminium and Pearl Chrome highlight for contrast. The use of beige keeps it light and fresh while slight wooden trim adds a pinch of elegance. The M Sport exclusive BMW Individual headliner anthracite and exclusive LED optical fibre in the door trims with six selectable light designs further elevates the overall ambience.
As far as the space is concerned, the large headroom as well as legroom along with the flexibly adjustable rear seats ensure a special feeling of spaciousness.
M Sport badges
As it is an M Sport trim, we can see a number of M designations, including M door sill finishers, floor mats in M design, car’s key with M badge, an M leather steering wheel.
Steering wheel
As we just mentioned, the car has an M Leather three-spoke steering wheel with multifunction buttons, an M badge, and an integrated driver-side airbag. The wheel rim is draped in 'Walknappa' Black leather with black stitching and contoured thumb rests. It provides a direct and athletic steering experience.
Gearbox
The gearbox you see here is seven-speed Steptronic transmission that offers smooth gearshifts and outstanding driving comfort.
Anti-dazzle interior mirror
The interior mirror features the automatic anti-dazzle function. It prevents glare from vehicles running behind the car while driving at night and thus improves comfort and safety.
Instrument cluster
The instrument cluster featuring a high-resolution 5.7-inch TFT display has been designed with the driver in mind. It comes with black-panel tech with chrome rings surrounding the round speedometer, and rev counter displays. The panel can be operated intuitively using either the iDrive Controller.
Infotainment unit
As for entertainment, the crossover has an 8.8-inch touchscreen navigation system located in the centre of the dashboard. It can be used to control entertainment and navigation functions with voice control. It is also mated to BMW ConnectedDrive services.
Automatic air conditioning
The car is fitted with two-zone automatic air conditioning featuring separate controls for different passengers. It comprises Automatic Air Recirculation, a Micro-activated carbon particulate filter, and a fogging and solar sensor.
Sunroof
BMW offers the X1 with a panoramic glass roof, which not only accentuates the car’s styling but also enables the passengers to enjoy the sunlight and stars at night.
Power-adjustable sports seats
BMW X1 has sport seats for the driver and front passenger that are more comfortable for sitting as compared to the standard ones. They feature better backrest bolsters and adjustable thigh support needed for lateral support during fast cornering. These are upholstered in black Dakota Leather.
Rear seats
The rear seats are spacious and feature a 40:20:40 split-fold ratio that allows occupants to vary the storage as per the need.
Rear AC vents
For the comfort of rear passengers, the X1 also has rear AC vents.
Boot space
With a maximum capacity of 1,550 litres, the BMW X1 sDrive20i M Sport offers the luggage compartment in the premium segment.
With so much on the palette for passengers’ comfort, entertainment and safety, the BMW X1 stands out in the segment. What do you think? Sound off your views in the comments.
