BMW iX1 undergoes final testing, launch set for this year
KUALA LUMPUR: BMW is a pioneer in the world of electric vehicle segment with models like BMW iX, iX3 and i4 on offer. Very soon, a new member will be added to the BMW EV family and that is none other than the iX1. It is an electric version of the marque’s highly popular X1 and will hit the roads after the debut of the next-gen X1 this year.

Platform: The next-gen BMW X1 and BMW iX1 are based on the same FAAR platform, which is an evolution of the UKL underpinnings.
WLTP-claimed range: The WLTP-claimed drive range of the iX1 is between 413 km and 438 km. This figure has been achieved from the EV’s current stage with not much differences expected to be on the final model, says BMW.
BMW eDrive technology: The German automaker has also confirmed that the upcoming EV will be equipped with the latest fifth-gen BMW eDrive technology mated to dual motors. While the specifications of the motors and battery are still under the wraps, we know the latter will be getting heating technology for faster charging times and better range in cold climates.
Exterior highlights: A closed-off front grille with blue accents, a bold lower apron, prominent corner intakes, angular daytime running light signature, and iX3-like headlights are among the significant design highlights of the all-new iX1.
Launch details: BMW will pull the wraps off the iX1 shortly after unveiling the new ICE-powered X1 variants later this year. Besides internal combustion engines, pure electric drivetrain, the revamped SUV will also get a plug-in hybrid trim.
A few days back, a BMW dealer in France revealed a teaser of the new X1 which previewed the new headlights sporting larger and more sharp edges.
