BMW i4 electric coupé teased ahead of its official debut in 2021
KUALA LUMPUR: The German multinational company, BMW reveals its i4 four-door electric coupé ahead of its official debut, which is set to happen in the year 2021. This car will arrive after the debut of iX3 and iNEXT SUVs. Moreover, it will come equipped with BMW’s fifth-generation eDrive electric powertrain, just like the models mentioned above.
The i4 will be based on the 4 Series Gran Coupé’s next generation with a completely revamped electric motor, charging unit, highly modular system, highly modular system, and a high-voltage battery. With the technicals equipment mentioned above, the car will be capable of churning out a maximum power of up to 530 PS (390 kW).
The most amazing fact is that a single motor will generate all this high power output, and the power will be sent to the rear wheels. Moreover, its rivals use dual motors to generate similar outputs. The i4 electric coupé will be capable of achieving the 0 to 100 kmph sprint in just 4.0 seconds and can hit a top speed of 200 km/h.
According to the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure, the car will be delivering a fantastic range of about 600 km on an undefined cycle, thanks to the very efficient 80 kWh battery, which is placed flat under the floor of the car. The charging unit flaunts to draw up to 150 kW, which allows the battery to gain 80 per cent charge in just 35 minutes. In addition to that, with only six minutes of charge, it can deliver up to 100 km of range.
The carmaker declares that a variety of models can make use of the modular powertrain. The final version is expected to come with an innovative front fascia along with a massive double kidney grille.
