BMW Group Malaysia sales 2023: 15,012 units sold; X5, iX, i7, Countryman among top-sellers
KUALA LUMPUR: The year 2023 was full of milestones and accolades for BMW Group Malaysia as the German conglomerate continues to see positive trends. The group celebrated its 20th anniversary this year with the unveiling of an exclusive 20th-anniversary logo and a wide array of special offers. It sold a total of 15,012 units of BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad vehicles representing a 3.8% year-on-year growth over 2022.

As indicated in the table, BMW witnessed a marginal decrease in sales compared to the previous year. However, Mini experienced a substantial Y-o-Y growth of 41.9%, which reveals a significant surge in the brand’s popularity. The motorcycle division of the group also demonstrated positive performance indicating a healthy expansion in the segment.
Speaking of BMW's popular models, the X range of SUVs led the sales charts with over 4,000 units (X5 alone contributed 1500 units). The 3 Series followed closely with approximately 2,600 units, while the 5 Series accounted for 800 units. The high-performance M series vehicles like the M4, M3, and M2 also added to the brand's success with a total deliveries of 500 units.
More than 3,600 BMW EVs were delivered in the year 2023 with the iX accounting for approx 1,100 units and the i7 adding 600 units to the total. It reflects the growing traction and consumer interest in BMW's electric vehicle offerings.
Coming to Mini cars in Malaysia, the brand’s notable growth was driven by the high demand for the Countryman, which accounted for over 62% of the deliveries in 2023, with 1,086 units. The MINI Electric also remained in high demand as it constituted over 26% of MINI vehicles delivered.
