BMW 3 Series Gran Sedan arrives in Thailand
KUALA LUMPUR: Now part of the BMW Thailand line-up is the long-wheelbase version of the 3 Series. The same model earlier arrived in India and now it enters another right-hand drive country. In Thailand, BMW is offering the stretched 3 Series model in only a single 330Li Sport version.
Priced at 2.899 million baht (approx. RM 391,535), thus making it pricer than the standard 3 Series model already on offer in Thailand. The entry-level 320d M Sport retails for 2.549 million baht (approx. RM 344,264) and the plug-in hybrid 330e M Sport goes for 2.799 million baht (approx. RM 378,029). In Thai-spec 3 Series Gran Sedan comes with a BSI Standard kit that includes - free maintenance for 3-year/60,000 km and 3-year/Unlimited-mileage warranty.
The long-wheelbase version of the standard BMW 3 Series model measures 4,819 mm in length, 1,827 mm in width, and 1,442 mm in height. Talking about the fact of the matter, i.e., the wheelbase, it stretches to 2,961 mm.
Powering the 3 Series Gran Sedan is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine that makes a maximum power of 258 PS from 5,000 to 6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 400 Nm from 1,500 to 4,400 rpm. Sending power to the rear wheels is an 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission. On the performance side, the sedan can touch the 100 kmph mark on the speedometer in just 6.2 seconds and can attain a top speed of 250 kmph.
On the outside, the 3 Series Gran Sedan features LED headlights with high beam assist, 18-inch M light-alloy wheels in bicolour & double spoke design, stylish exhaust outlets, M Aerodynamic front & rear bumper, BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line package, and a powered tailgate.
The cabin benefits from black Vernasca leather upholstery which is offered in two stitching & exterior paint combo - Macha stitching with Mineral White or Cashmere paint job and Cognac decor stitching with Carbon Black exterior hue. Included in the new 3 Series spec list is - three-zone climate control, ambient lighting system, M Sport leather steering wheel, gesture control, electrically-adjustable front seats with memory function, ConnectedDrive, Harman Kardon surround sound system, wireless control, Aluminium Tetragon trim, and BMW Live Cockpit Professional.
The sedan is packed with amazing safety features that include a regular suite of passive systems. For instance, six airbags, ABS, stability control, brake assist, brake control, traction control, side-impact protection, Concerning Brake Control, surround-view camera, and Park Distance Control. Active cruise control and autonomous emergency braking systems are missing.
