Audi releases a teaser video of new Q3 before its global debut

KUALA LUMPUR: The test mule of the upcoming 2019 Audi Q3 has been spotted numerous times, and we have seen the spy shots too. Now, Audi is done with the testing of its new car and the time has come for the global debut of the new Q3 which is scheduled for 25 July 2018. But to keep the curiosity alive, Audi has already released a teaser video.

The teaser video shows a few glimpses of the 2019 Audi Q3 which reveal the new pair of angular headlamps and the signature DRLs. We can also see the new single-frame grille. Audi has also relocated the outside rearview mirror. They are now moved from the original position, i.e. near the A-pillar and positioned a bit low than before.

These features that have been revealed in the teaser video were seen in the spy pictures as well. What else we can expect with the new 2019 Q3 is large faux inlets at the corner of the front bumper, a character line that runs across the side of the car above the door handles, updated taillights, like the ones we’ve seen in the recent Audi models, and muscular fenders. The overall design and silhouette of this upcoming Audi will not be strikingly different from that of the outgoing Q3 model.

As far as the interior is concerned, the teaser video doesn’t give us a look of that but it’s expected that the 2019 Q3 will get features like Audi’s new virtual cockpit instrument display, a large touchscreen, conventional climate control, and an updated and sporty steering wheel design. We’ve seen a few of these features in the spy shots.

The new Q3 should come with both petrol and diesel engine options with Quattro all-wheel-drive as optional. Since it is based on the latest MQB platform which we are familiar with, the possibility of a hybrid variant can’t be ignored.

Audi’s latest Q3 will have to go head-to-head with the Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1, and Volvo XC40. The XC40 has already impressed the audience by scoring a 5-star rating in the latest 2018 Euro NCAP tests. It’d be interesting to see the results of the new Q3. It is expected of Audi to reveal the price of the new Q3 at the global debut, and we are hoping to see the new car in the showrooms here in Malaysia pretty soon.
