All-new 2022 BMW X4 launched in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: BMW Malaysia is on a bang, you guys. The German automaker treated the market with not one but two cars - the 2022 X3 range and the 2022 X4. The former includes three models including one PHEV trim and the latter which we’ll be discussing in detail in one variant, the xDrive30i M Sport.

Like the 2022 X3 range launched in Malaysia, the X4 is also offered as a locally assembled unit. And is offered for RM 398,800 on-the-road without insurance, including a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty with BMW Service and Repair Inclusive.

What powers the new BMW X4 xDrive30i?

Powering the stunner is a 2.0-litre inline-four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine making a maximum power of 252 hp along with a peak torque of 350 Nm. The drive is sent to the xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system via an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Exterior updates

For the model year 2022, the X4 gains from a new rear bumper with vertical reflectors, and new set of free-form exhaust outlets.

The exterior hues on the model now include - Alpine White, Piemont Red, Carbon Black, and Phytonic Blue.

Interior revisions

The 2022 X4 cabin benefits from the Live Cockpit Professional setup that comprises a dual 12.3-inch display, new control elements in the centre console, and zinc-plated air vent elements.

Also, part of the kit is BMW Operating System, a range of BMW Connected services, and BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. In the future all prompted updates will be provided via over-the-air remote software upgrades.

As for cabin upholstery, for all the exterior colour options is available black Vernasca leather with contrast stitching. Tacora Red option is also available but only with Carbon Black and Alpine White exterior hue.

Advanced features

Like the new X3, the X4 also gains from a BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant’s extended feature set. For instance, the user through voice control can open windows and adjust air-conditioning settings.

The cloud-based BMW Maps navigation system is now more precise and combines destination entry points with comprehensive traffic updates.

Strong safety kit

The Malaysia-spec X4 xDrive30i LCI gets an advanced driver assistance suite of features including lane departure warning, lane change warning, Reversing Assistant, Parking Assistant, and front collision warning with brake intervention (AEB).
