KUALA LUMPUR: UMW Toyota has revealed the sales numbers for April 2024. The Japanese automaker sold a total of 7,345 units (7,213 Toyota and 132 Lexus) during the month. It brings the brand's year-to-date sales total to 30,789 units, representing a 3.7% decrease compared to the first four months of 2023.

2024 Toyota Yaris G Limited launch
In the month of April, Toyota introduced the limited-edition Yaris G Limited, setting a new benchmark in the non-national B-segment hatchback market. Limited to just 600 units, this special Toyota Yaris is specifically designed for Gen Z drivers, offering them a sportier and more dynamic driving experience. It comes with performance-oriented enhancements such as shock absorbers, an agile chassis with a better tyre grip, a throttle controller, and a cold air intake.
2024 Toyota Hiace SLWB bookings open
As for the commercial sector, the automaker introduced the all-new Toyota Hiace Super Long Wheelbase (SLWB). This 10-seater window van comes with an extended wheelbase of 3,860 mm, providing a generous interior space for both passengers and cargo, ideal for long-distance travel. It is designed for businesses seeking a reliable and spacious vehicle, as well as for families looking for a comfortable and safe mode of transport. Powering the Toyota Hiace SLWB is a 2.8-litre 1GD-FTV turbo-diesel engine, which kicks out a maximum power of 177 PS at 3,400 rpm and a peak torque of 450 Nm between 1,600 to 2,400 rpm.

UMW Toyota has also expanded its dealer network in Malaysia with the opening of a new Laser Motor 4S Sdn Bhd in Seremban. It is a 3S outlet offering sales and service amenities, including 10 service bays.
"Peace Of Mind With Every Drive" promo
For the month of May, the company has rolled out the "Peace Of Mind With Every Drive" promo, which offers savings of up to RM 7,500 and 100% financing. It is applicable on thirteen Toyota vehicles, including the new Vios and Yaris. The monthly payments start from as low as RM 688 for the Vios and RM 658 for the Yaris. For more savings, customers can also opt for the Toyota Service Savers program with monthly payments beginning at RM31.
Toyota Corolla Cross Cup
The second event of the Toyota Tour sports series fostering community engagement and supporting charitable causes, the Corolla Cross Cup, was held from 23rd to 25th April at Glenmarie GCC's Garden Course. Galven Green secured victory in a playoff first-hole win over Nicholas Fung, surpassing 92 participants.
Alongside the main event, an exclusive junior clinic also took place at Glenmarie's practice area, with professionals such as Zia Izzuddeen, Umar Khushairi, Syahiran Syakir, and Sukree Othman.
