2025 Toyota GR Yaris launched in Malaysia – Priced at RM316k, here’s what’s new

KUALA LUMPUR: UMW Toyota Motor has unveiled the 2025 GR Yaris at the Toyota Gazoo Racing Season 7 finale, and it’s clear this isn’t just a rehash of the fan-favourite hot hatch.

Being the older model out of the two GR hathcbacks, the latest model comes packed with updates that make it faster, sharper, and even more exciting to drive, all while staying true to its rally-inspired roots.

For 2025, the GR Yaris gets a boost in engine output, now delivering a solid 300PS and 400Nm of torque from its 1.6-litre turbocharged engine.

As usual, It’s paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox and Toyota’s GR-Four AWD system, offering unmatched control and engagement whether you’re tackling twisty backroads or just having a blast on the highway. 

Just like the GR Corolla, an automatic version is not yet upon us, but it will be made available later on.

What’s new doesn’t stop there. Toyota has added a Cooling Package to keep temperatures in check during spirited drives, enhanced the suspension for improved handling and durability, and introduced a new front and rear design.

The updated look features larger air intakes, a bolder rear diffuser, and the signature triple exhaust system that’s as functional as it is aggressive. There’s also a fresh exterior colour, Precious Metal, to ensure the GR Yaris stands out even more.

Inside, it’s all about the driver. The cockpit has been reworked for 2025, with a driver-first layout that includes a new 12.3-inch GR TFT display showing performance metrics at a glance.

Red seatbelt accents and ergonomic upgrades keep the rally-inspired vibe alive while making it easier to enjoy the car’s full potential.
