2024 Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 50 launched in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Ahead of the grand 2024 Golf Fan Fest, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has rolled out the exclusive Golf GTI Edition 50 in the country. It is locally assembled at the brand’s Pekan facility.

Introduced as part of the iconic hatchback’s 50th anniversary celebrations, the special model is priced at RM 267,990 (including the Volkswagen Assurance Package). Compared to the standard Golf GTI, the Edition 50 is priced at RM 15,000 higher. So, what does the automaker offer for an additional price? Let’s find out.

The Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 50 comes with the following accessories and exclusive Edition 50 emblems -

• An Oettinger body kit, including a black front spoiler, black roof spoiler, and diffuser
• Unique 18-inch ‘Pretoria’ light alloys with high-gloss black finish, “GTI” Dynamic wheel hub caps, and VW Design aluminium valve caps
• Black side mirror caps
• “Edition 50” VW Tint
• “50” emblems on both B-pillars 
• Sporty side decorative films inspired by the GTI honeycomb
• “50” emblem on the multi-function sport steering wheel
• “Edition 50” aluminium side scuff plates 
• “Edition 50” front carpet mats 

The Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 50 comes in two exclusive colour options viz. Oryx White and Moonstone Grey.

Upon introducing the special Golf GTI, Denyu Bostandzhiev, Managing Director of VPCM said, “This special edition GTI represents a milestone for us, as we celebrate the Golf’s 50th anniversary. The GTI is already such an exceptional model, and the Edition 50’s upgrades certainly adds a unique touch that makes it a collectible item. We believe that the Edition 50 will appeal to those in the GTI’s already passionate fanbase looking for that something extra special.” 

Powering the special edition model is the same 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged engine as the standard GTI. The said mill kicks out a maximum power of 245 PS and a peak torque of 370 Nm. Power is sent to the wheels via a 7-speed wet clutch DSG transmission.

Feature kit includes - a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 10-inch Discover Media infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 480-watt Harman Kardon premium sound system with 10 speakers, and Volkswagen’s IQ.DRIVE technology with systems like Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Assist, Travel Assist, Side Assist, and head-up display.

Interested folks can check out the exclusive Golf GTI Edition 50 in person at Volkswagen dealerships starting fromAugust 17, 2024. It will also be on display at the upcoming Golf Fan Fest, set to be held at the Sepang International Circuit on August 24, 2024.
