2024 Mini Cooper Electric gets a new entry-level Classic trim
KUALA LUMPUR: Mini introduced the all-new fourth-generation Cooper last September. The BMW-owned brand has now expanded the car’s lineup by adding a new all-electric Cooper Electric variant in the entry-level Classic trim. It is cheaper and less powerful and highlights the minimalist design ethos of the brand.

Equipped with a 40.7 kWh battery pack, the 2024 Mini Cooper E offers a driving range of 305 km (on the WLTP cycle).Powering the new Mini Cooper E is a front-mounted electric motor that kicks out a maximum power of 184 PS and a peak torque of 290 Nm. The battery pack of the new trim is also smaller than the SE, with a capacity of 40.7 kWh (instead of 54.2 kWh) offering a driving range of 305 km (on the WLTP cycle). The battery juices up from 10 to 80 percent in just 28 minutes using a DC outlet of up to 75 kW.
In terms of design, the 2024 Mini Cooper E Classic features an octagonal front grille and round headlights. The LED highlights have unique light signatures, giving the car a distinctive look. The Classic Trim is offered in striking body colours and contrasting roof finishes. It runs on aerodynamically optimised wheels available in rim sizes ranging from 16 to 18 inches.
The new Cooper Electric Classic also features unique interior touches such as surfaces finished in a two-tone black and blue knit material and Vescin synthetic leather upholstery with a perforated houndstooth pattern. Two colour options available for upholstery are black and grey. The infotainment duties are handled by a 9.44-inch circular OLED touchscreen display powered by the new Mini Operating System 9.
As for driver assistance, the EV comes kitted with Active Cruise Control, which monitors road conditions and maintains the proper distance with the vehicle running ahead. It also has a Parking Assistant feature that helps drivers park their cars in crowded cities by automatically taking over the parking process.
