KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-Benz has expanded the second-generation GLA facelift range in Malaysia with the new GLA 250 4Matic AMG Line variant. The latest model joins the GLA 200 launched in January this year and is offered as a CKD model, locally assembled at the brand’s Pekan facility in Pahang.

The new Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 4Matic AMG Line is priced at RM 295,888, making it RM 37,000 dearer than the lower-spec GLA 200.

Powering the latest GLA variant is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder mill that now comes with a 48V belt-driven starter-generator offering an additional 14 PS and 150 Nm. The setup combinedly churns out a maximum power of 224 hp and a peak torque of 350 Nm. 

The power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission gearbox mated to the brand’s 4MATIC variable all-wheel drive system. Performance-wise, the SUV runs from zero to 100 kmph in 6.8 seconds and hits a top speed of 240 kmph.

In terms of design, the new Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 looks striking thanks to the sporty AMG Line kit that brings on board the exclusive highlights such as the diamond-patterned radiator grille featuring chrome pins, a new front apron, a rear diffuser, and 19-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels. The compact SUV also features a modernised light signature with powerful LED High-Performance front headlamps and new LED rear lights. The former comes with Adaptive Highbeam Assist. 

Just like the GLA 200, the new GLA 250 is also available in the new Spectral Blue metallic paint colour.

Inside the new Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 4Matic AMG Line, we get a free-standing console including two 10.25-inch displays for the multimedia screen and instrument cluster, respectively. The displays are powered by the latest-gen MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) system allowing Smartphone Integration with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Along with that, the SUV also comes with a USB Package Plus, which comprises a total of 5 fast-charging illuminated USB-C ports.

Other key highlights include - THERMATIC automatic climate control with 2 climate zones, 64-colour ambient lighting, a multifunction Nappa leather-wrapped sports steering wheel, and sports seats with ARTICO man-made leather / MICROCUT microfibre upholstery.
