2024 Lexus ES debuts in the US with tech upgrades

KUALA LUMPUR: Toyota’s luxury arm Lexus has unveiled the upgraded version of its best-selling sedan, the ES. For the 2024 model year, the premium mid-size sedan benefits from a new Technology Package, new wheels, and the Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 as a standard fitment.

Available for all Base, Luxury, F SPORT Design, and F SPORT Handling trims, the new Technology Package comprises a 12.3-inch touchscreen with Lexus Interface, a Head-Up Display, and SmartAccess Card Key. 

With the Lexus interface, drivers get access to a wide range of enhanced connectivity and convenience features, including Over-the-Air (OTA) updates. It also enables dual Bluetooth® phone connectivity, wireless Apple CarPlay integration and Android Auto compatibility, and standard Wi-Fi connectivity.

Another big upgrade can be seen in the form of a refreshed range of alloy wheels. The lower trims are kitted with 17-inch units, while the Ultra Luxury variant gets a new pair of 18-inch wheels decked up with a Vapor Chrome finish. The new alloys are also available for the Luxury trim as an option.

Parts of the standard Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 ADAS pack are - a pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, All-speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, and Road Sign Assist.

The new Lexus ES continues to offer a diversity of lifestyles to customers with three different powerful engines paired with a CVT gearbox and all-wheel drive capability. These include -

• 3.5-litre naturally-aspirated V6 petrol mill churning out 302 hp of maximum power and 362 Nm of peak torque
• 2.5-litre inline-four Atkinson-cycle petrol-hybrid system that delivers a total output of 215 hp
• 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol that makes 203 hp

The all-new 2024 Lexus ES is slated to hit US dealerships in the summer 2023. The price begins at USD 43,190 (approx RM 201,623) and goes all the way up to USD 53,480 (approx RM 249,660).

Lexus ES in Malaysia

The Lexus ES250 is available in three variants in Malaysia - Premium, Luxury, and F Sport priced between RM 320,888 and RM 371,888.
