Let’s know the 2024 BMW iX1 eDrive20 M Sport in detail.
Exterior
The BMW iX1 eDrive20 M Sport has a modern and sleek design. It features a distinctive enclosed kidney grille shaped like an X, giving it a sporty look. Unlike its sibling model which comes with traditional vertical slats, the eDrive20 M Sport showcases a variant-exclusive solid patterned panel grille.
The grille is edged by modern three-dimensional LED headlights and eye-catching daytime running lights for added style. On the sides, we can notice flush door handles and distinct square wheel arches, which are typical of BMW X models. The rear incorporates classic L-shaped tail lights contributing to the overall stylish and sophisticated appearance.
Parts of the M Sport exterior package are sportier bumpers, blacked-out detailings, M Adaptive suspension and 19-inch M double-spoke style 871 M light-alloy bicolour wheels.
Interior
Just like its premium sibling, the eDrive20 M Sport interior impresses with a BMW Curved Display, showcasing a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a 10.7-inch infotainment display running BMW Operating System 9. This advanced setup comes paired with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and offers an intuitive user interface through BMW Live Cockpit Professional, enhancing the overall driving experience.
In terms of upholstery, the eDrive20 M Sport offers a choice of Veganza faux leather or a combination of Alcantara and Veganza. This differs from the xDrive30 M Sport, which features Vernasca leather or Alcantara/Sensatec combination upholstery. Both variants share the interior trims with a 'Hexacube' design, albeit in a darker finish, adding a touch of sophistication to the cabin.
Also part of the kit is a head-up display, powered M Sport seats, two-zone automatic climate control, and a Harman Kardon HiFi sound system.
Drivetrain, range, and charging
What mainly sets the new iX1 variant apart from the previous model is the drivetrain. The eDrive20 model is equipped with a front-mounted single motor churning out a maximum power of 204 PS and 250 Nm of torque with the temporary boost feature engaged. On the other hand, the xDrive30 version features a dual-motor setup, providing more robust performance with up to 313 PS and 494 Nm of torque when the boost is engaged.
The eDrive20 accelerates to 100 kmph in 5.6 seconds and has a top speed of 170 kmph, while the xDrive30 offers a quicker acceleration time of 5.6 seconds and a slightly higher top speed of 180 kmph.
As for the battery pack, both trims share the same 66.5 kWh lithium-ion unit with the same charging capabilities. It supports up to 11 kW AC input for a full charge in 6.5 hours and up to 130 kW DC fast charging for 10% to 50% SoC in just 29 minutes.
However, in terms of range, the eDrive20 outperforms the xDrive30 with a cruising distance of 475 km, compared to 438 km.
Safety
The eDrive20 M Sport features the Driving Assistant package as standard, including systems such as lane change warning, rear cross traffic alert with brake intervention, exit warning, rear collision prevention, and autonomous emergency braking. For enhanced parking safety, it comes equipped with a standard Parking Assistant Plus with a 360-degree camera.
Customers can opt for the Driving Assistant Plus package (available with the higher-spec model), offering advanced features like Steering and Lane Control Assistant, Active Cruise Control with stop and go function, and more.
