The second generation of the EV which entered the Malaysian market in 2019 has just received an upgrade. The latest iteration is kitted with new technologies offering a quiet, smooth, and responsive driving experience while producing zero emissions.

Let’s get to know the full details of the all-new 2023 Nissan Leaf -

    2023 Nissan Leaf price

Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM), the official distributor of Nissan cars in Malaysia, offers the new Leaf in a sole variant, priced at RM 168,888 (with tax exemptions and FOC road tax, excluding insurance). Like the predecessor, the latest EV is also fully imported from Japan, but it is almost RM 7k cheaper than before.

Included in the price are a 3 years or 100,000km vehicle warranty and 8 years or 160,000km warranty for the lithium-ion battery.

    2023 Nissan Leaf subscription plan

ETCM offers the EV on subscription as well which provides customers with a Worry-Free ownership experience. In this case, the buyer needs to pay a monthly subscription amount of RM 1,800 for a 3-year contract with no down payment. The contract is subject to terms and conditions.

2023 Nissan Leaf drivetrain, range, and charging

The new Nissan EV is equipped with the same 110kW electric motor that delivers 150 PS of maximum power and 320 Nm of peak torque. The EV accelerates from zero to 100 kmph in 7.9 seconds which adds to the driving excitement. With the brand’s revolutionary e-Pedal technology, the drivers can start, accelerate, or decelerate just by increasing or decreasing the pressure applied to the accelerator pedal.

With a fully charged 40-kWh battery pack, the car offers a driving range of 311 kilometres based on the NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) test mode, which is more than sufficient for the majority of Malaysian drivers who commute daily in urban and suburban areas.

While the EV comes with a 6.6-kW onboard charger, the exciting news here is that the latest version of the car supports a Type 2 connector for AC charging, which was previously limited to Type 1. The DC fast charging can be still done through a 50 kW CHAdeMO socket, which charges the battery from 0 to 100% SoC in an hour. The wall box AC charger, on the contrary, takes 7 hours to do the same job.

    2023 Nissan Leaf exterior

On the exterior, the upgraded EV features a new aero front grille, which is all-black and incorporates the brand’s new logo. It is mated by a revised bumper and headlights integrated with LED DRLs that now have black inner finishing. At the rear, we can find a new bumper, grey-accent diffuser, and a redesigned aero spoiler adding to the EV’s aerodynamic performance. Also, part of the kit is new 5-spoke 17-inch alloy rims.

Nissan offers the EV in seven colours viz. Stealth Grey, Opera Mauve, Burgundy, Vivid Blue, Pure White Pearl, Akatsuki Sunrise Copper, and Midnight Black.

    2023 Nissan Leaf interior

The Japanese electric car received a few modifications when it comes to the cabin with a new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system as the most significant one. The latest system is compatible with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. Also new is the leather upholstery available in either Graphite Black or Stone Grey colour options.

The EV also comes kitted with a flat-bottom steering wheel, an electronic parking brake, a push start button with I-key, automatic climate control, and a drive mode selector.

    2023 Nissan Leaf safety

Nissan has also updated the ADAS pack of the electric car. It gains a few new systems, including Lane Departure Warning and Lane Intervention, Intelligent Rear View Mirror, and High Beam Assist. The new gears are complemented by -
