KUALA LUMPUR: Introduced back in 2018, the current iteration of the BMW 3 Series sedan has been around for four years without any significant upgrade. Well, now it’s the time to get excited because the German marque will soon introduce the new 3 Series decked up with new styling and technologies.

The new BMW 3 Series.” The clip unveils the shadowed front face of the updated sedan, by which we can figure out a new light signature with a new set of C-shaped LED daytime running lights. This is way different than the ongoing horizontal section of the DRLs.
Another important thing confirmed by the shadowy preview is that the extra-large controversial kidney grille will not be available on the new BMW 3 Series sedan.

Subtle design revisions
The upcoming ICE-powered 3 Series is said to get a number of design cues with the China-bound BMW i3 EV (pictured below). The latter was revealed at the end of March in the People's Republic and it does not feature many big design changes as compared to the predecessor. So, as per that, we will see only subtle exterior design revisions on the new ICE-powered version.
Significant modifications inside the cabin
Unlike the exterior, we expect to see some substantial upgrades inside the cabin. These include the latest iDrive 8 system, a massive curved display similar to the iX, a new steering wheel and an upgraded HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) system.
Multiple powertrains
The updated 3 Series is also likely to come with multiple powertrain options, including petrol, diesel and hybrids. The list may include the ongoing 2.0-litre turbo petrol and diesel mills along with a 3.0-litre straight-six turbo-petrol unit.
Expected launch
The all-new 2023 BMW 3 Series is expected to make its global debut towards the second half of 2022. Back home, we could get the updated sedan by early 2023 at the earliest.
