2022 Nissan Leaf arrives in Europe with a few upgrades
KUALA LUMPUR: The Nissan Leaf is one of the affordable EVs available in the local market since 2019 that offers a driver range of 311 km on a full charge. Now, this Japanese electric hatchback received an upgrade in Europe that makes it more eye-catching and hi-tech.

Nissan offers the 2022 Leaf in two battery options in Europe. The base model is fitted with a 40-kWh battery, while the top-spec carries a 62-kWh battery pack.Touted as the world's first mass-market electric vehicle, the 2022 Nissan Leaf features an enhanced exterior design ranging from intricate detailing to prominent alloy wheel options. The EV gets the brand’s new logo on the front grille, boot lid as well as on the wheels. The latter also gets a refreshed design in two sizes - 16- and 17-inch.
There is also a new range of colors available with the 2022 Nissan Leaf. These include - six monotone choices and five dual-tone options, with the two new hues borrowed from the Qashqai and Ariya - Universal Blue and Magnetic Blue. The former is a rich and mature tone, while the latter offers a sense of vibrancy to the EV.
The cabin of the updated Leaf continues to feature the same material and design with the placement of the new logo. It equips the NissanConnect infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity smartphone integration. Remote operations like climate control are also available through the NissanConnect app, along with Amazon Alexa connectivity.
Also part of the kit is a tried-and-tested pack of advanced driving assistance features like ProPILOT.
For an engaging and connected driving experience, Nissan offers the EV in two battery options. The base model is fitted with a 40-kWh battery pack and a front electric motor generating a maximum power output of 150 PS and a peak torque of 320 Nm, while the top-spec carries a 62-kWh battery and electric motor that is good for making 217 PS and 340 Nm. The latter delivers up to 385 km (WLTP) range on a single charge.
