2022 Mercedes-Benz EQA 250 AMG Line: A bag of impressive features & equipment

We won't be wrong in saying that the Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s EV adventure journey’s first chapter is pretty exciting with the new 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQA being the main lead.

It was earlier today that Mercedes-Benz's first all-electric compact SUV finally arrived in Malaysia. Offered in the EQA 250 AMG Line guise, the new EV arrives fully imported from Germany and is priced at RM 278,201.25 (OTR excluding insurance). All EQA units come with an 8-year battery warranty and a 4-year unlimited mileage warranty.

Thanks to all the EV incentives offered by the Malaysian government, the EQA 250 is only around RM 7,000 dearer than its petrol counterpart, the GLA 250.

Before moving forward with the new EQA’s feature and equipment list, here are a few key highlights about the EV -

• The fully-electric EQA shares its platform and several body panels with the ongoing GLA. For this reason, some refer to EQA as an all-electric version of the latter, however, the former is more aerodynamically advanced

• The EQA comes with a single asynchronous e-motor that drives the front wheels via an 8-speed gearbox. Pumping out 190 PS and 375 Nm of torque, the motor allows this 2,040 kg weighing giant to propel from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.9 seconds and attain a top speed of 160 kmph

• The said e-motor is powered by a liquid-cooled, 420V lithium-ion battery that the onboard 11kW AC charger gets fully recharged in 5 hrs 45 mins. Alternatively, DC fast charging will get the battery from 10 to 80 percent charge in just 32 minutes
• Following the WLTP cycle, the full charge battery offers a zero-emission range of 429 km

EQA’s exterior equipment kit 

AMG Line:

The Malaysia-spec EQA benefits from standard-fit AMG design and equipment line, thus substantially enhancing the vehicle. Part of the kit is Aerodynamic 19-inch light-alloy wheels and roof rails in polished aluminium.

LED light strip

The EQA showcases a LED light strip at the top of the Black Panel radiator grille and between the LED tail light at the rear. It is the EV visual and emotively appealing distinguishing feature.

LED High-Performance headlights

These unmistakable, distinctive-looking lighting units offer more safety at night. The LED technology illuminates the road ahead, better than the conventional headlights, plus it uses less energy.

EASY-PACK tailgate

Making the EQA really practical, the EASY-PACK tailgate can be opened or closed electrically, thus making loading and unloading super convenient. With just a press of a button, one can initiate the opening and closing process and also interrupt it any time by pressing the same button again.

AMG Line elements

Like the outside, the cabin also benefits from standard-fit AMG design and equipment line. The added value elements one can see and feel on the inside include - sport seat in ARTICO man-made leather and microfibre and leather steering wheel.

Speed Limit Assist:

This feature makes it easy for the driver to follow the rules and avoid unnecessary speeding tickets. The system uses a camera to show what is permitted, for instance, the current speed limit and restrictive additional signs (in particular weather conditions) which are then displayed in the instrument cluster.

Stowage compartment with retractable cover:

The centre console comes with a storage compartment with a retractable cover, thus offering elegant protection to your valuables from prying eyes. Wrapped in high-quality material, it looks good and makes the cabin appear tidier.

Ambient lighting:

The owner can showcase the cabin as per his/her personal preference or current mood. The ambient lighting with 64 colour options creates an exciting scheme and can either alternate dynamically or illuminate different areas and different hues.

4-way lumbar support:

This one offers an ergonomic seating position and relaxes the back muscles. It further adjusts the seat contour to one’s lower back and provides support. It offers four settings: lower, higher, softer, and harder.

MBUX multimedia system:

The MBUX multimedia system helps control various features of the EQA intelligently and intuitively via a large, HD screen. How?

Well, it can be via movement, touch, or speech. Just say ‘Hey Mercedes’ and the MBUX will get activated and then you can proceed to express the wish.

Connectivity:

You, your smartphone, and EQA become one with Ev's intuitive connectivity features. For instance, the smartphone integration system that links the mobile phone with the media system via Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. Thus, giving the user convenient access to the most important apps on the smartphone. Apps by third-party providers can also be used quickly and easily.

Also, driving time becomes charging time with the EQA, all you need to do is drop the smartphone into its allotted wireless charging oddments tray. The best part is every smartphone, irrespective of the model and brand gets charged wirelessly.

The owner can experience added convenience, driving enjoyment, safety support, and safety via the Mercedes me connect services and the corresponding Mercedes me Apps. It will enrich users' experience by allowing users to experience the EV digitally and operate the functions remotely.

Additional equipment:
