2022 Land Rover Defender launched in Malaysia, check details
KUALA LUMPUR: Finally, the wait of Malaysian off-road enthusiasts is over. The all-new Land Rover Defender is here. But, the catch is we only get a 110 version powered by gasoline mills and need to wait more for the shorter 90 model and diesel powertrains. According to Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia, the Defended 90 will be introduced sometime next year.
So, What does the Malaysian-spec Defender 110 have on offer? Let’s check out.
As we know the new Land Rover Defender is a completely redesigned and re-engineered SUV; it underpins the new D7x architecture with all-aluminum monocoque built. It has the stiffest body structure Land Rover has ever produced with a maximum towing capability of 3,500 kg, a maximum static roof load of 300 kg, and a wading depth of 900 mm.
It is also the first Land Rover to have Wade mode within the Terrain Response menu. When water approaches the maximum wading depth of the vehicle, ultrasonic sensors warn the driver visually and audibly. The other five modes are General Driving, Sand, Mud and Ruts, Grass/Gravel/Snow, and Rock Crawl.
Also, part of the kit is an electronic air suspension with Adaptive Dynamics, which can raise the vehicle up to 145 mm when required.
Under the hood, the SUV is fitted with either of the following petrol engines, paired with a twin-speed automatic gearbox and an all-wheel-drive -
- 2.0-litre turbocharged in-line four generating 300 PS of power and 400 Nm of torque
- 3.0-litre mild-hybrid inline-six making 400 PS and 550 Nm
Included in the standard exterior kit are matrix LED headlights with DRLs, LED tail lights, Alpine roof lights, a panoramic roof, and 20-inch Style 5098 five-spoke wheels.
Inside, you can opt for the Defender 110 in either five-seater or seven-seater configuration. The features list includes -

- Head-up display
- 12.3-inch interactive driver display
- 10-inch infotainment display with Land Rover’s Pivi Pro system
