2021 Volkswagen Arteon R-Line: In Pics

Volkswagen Malaysia launched the Arteon facelift in the country in July this year and is proving a great seller for the automaker. The sedan is offered in a single variant option - R-Line 2.0 TSI 4 Motion priced at RM 248,693 that's almost RM 27,000 more than the previous model. It includes a five-year unlimited-mileage warranty and three years of free servicing.

Note that the prices are on-the-road without insurance and account for the ongoing SST exemption which is 100 percent in this case. Why? Well, that's because the Arteon is locally assembled in Pekan, Pahang.

Time to put the 2021 Arteon R-Line under the microscope and inspect it bit by bit.

Exterior

The new Arteon R-Line exterior with its athletic sportiness, expressive design and flowing silhouettes makes a pretty bold statement.

R-Line styling

The new Arteon looks great from every angle thanks to the R-Line styling that includes R-line aerodynamic bits, 19-inch alloys, and aggressive bumpers with body-coloured air intake blades at the front and rear black diffuser.

Lighting

The sedan's lighting setup includes - full LED headlights, a striking LED light strip that extends across the grille.

At the back, we see new LED tinted tail lights with dynamic sequential indicators and chrome-effect faux exhaust tailpipe.

Easy open-close tailgate

The Easy Open sensor-controlled tailgate makes every journey super relaxed. While a just small foot movement under the rear of the vehicle will open the luggage compartment, moving away from the car will close the tailgate.

Interior

The new Arteon gets a luxurious cabin with a new and visually pleasing cockpit environment that brings in a sense of calmness and exclusivity.

Digital instrument cluster

The sedan offers intelligent connectivity via the latest generation digital instrument cluster that is easily configured at the touch of a button.

Infotainment system

The easy-to-use 9.2-inch touchscreen colour display manages navigation and connectivity with in-car entertainment. Also, part of the kit is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. Furthermore, the voice control feature helps the driver choose media and plan the route while keeping eyes on the road all the time.

Amazing sound system

The latest VW sedan comes with Harman Kardon 700W digital sound system that features an elegant design, surround sound & 16-channel digital amplifier. It delivers impressive acoustics thanks to its 12 high-performance speakers.

Leather sport seats

What you see here are beautifully sculpted, new ErgoComfort 'Nappa Carbon' leather sport seats with 14-way adjustable seat length, seat height, seat cushion angle, and backrest angle. Further making long journeys more comfortable is the massage function and electric lumbar support.

Automatic air-con system

The Arteon gets a 3-zone "Climatronic" that ensures clean and healthy air conditioning in the cabin. Furthermore, the Air Care 'Climatronic' heeps fungal spores, pollen, and particulates from entering the car.

Powertrain

Under the bonnet, the Arteon houses a 2.0-litre TSI four-cylinder turbocharged mill that pumps out a maximum power of 280 PS at 5,100 to 6,500 rpm along with a peak torque of 350 Nm from 1,700 to 5,600 rpm.

7-speed Direct Shift Gearbox

The engine is paired with a fast and efficient 7-speed automatic transmission system ensuring a smooth hassle-free drive. Along with the ease of automatic transmission, the DSG offers fuel efficiency and responsiveness of a manual unit.

Speaking of which, the sedan offers an excellent combined mileage of 13.51 kmpl. Its 66-litre fuel tank helps the Arteon to go 850 km per tank.

Safety kit

The new Arteon is loaded with a fully integrated safety kit that makes every journey a breeze. Included in the bag are seven airbags, blind spot alerts, Side Assist, Lane Assist, advanced electronic differential lock, Electronic Stabilisation Control system, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Automatic Post Collision Brake System, and ISOFIX.

Not to forget, the Driver Alert System reminds the driver to take a break from long, tiring journeys.
