2021 Mercedes-AMG GT revealed, gets more power, and a new ‘Stealth Edition’
KUALA LUMPUR: Along with its performance partner AMG, Mercedes keeps refining its luxury lineup with faster and more powerful iterations. The recent model that gets a healthy dose of extra power and new refinements is the 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe and Roadster. A special ‘Stealth Edition’ is also added to the range.
The upgraded AMG GT gets a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine boasting 54 more horsepower than before, generating a total of 523 hp between 5,500 rpm to 6,750 rpm. The peak torque is also increased by 39 Nm, reaching 669 Nm at 2,100 - 5,250 rpm. As a result, the 0-100 kmph time reduces to 3.7 seconds (2 seconds faster than before), and top speed increases to 312 kmph for the Coupe and 311 kmph for the Roadster.
Mercedes-AMG has not just provided the extra oomph to the 2021 AMG GT models, but also, new standard equipment is on the revision-list. It includes an AMG Ride Control suspension with adaptive dampers, electronic limited-slip differential on the rear, high-performance composite brakes with red calipers, a new lithium-ion starter battery, and a Race driving mode.
Coming to the new Stealth Edition available for both Coupe and Roadster, it bundles special enhancements including the AMG Exterior Night Package, a dark chrome grille, darkened headlights, black brake calipers, and 19-inch matte black Y-spoke wheels up front and 20-inch wheels on the rear.
The 2021 GT Coupe features a carbon-fibre roof with dark-tinted areas, while the Roadster gets a soft black top. A black body paint comes as standard, but customers can also opt from two different shades of grey - selenite grey metallic and designo graphite grey magno.
Inside, the Stealth Edition boasts the AMG Performance seats upholstered in Nappa Style leather in black with diamond stitching, AMG Interior Night Package, and AMG steering wheel decked up in Dinamica microfibre with black spokes and shift paddles.
2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe and Roadster are scheduled to arrive in the US market early next year, with pricing to be released closer to launch. However, there is no update on its Malaysian debut as of now.
