2021 Jaguar E-Pace revealed, features new style and tech

KUALA LUMPUR: Jaguar's smallest and most affordable SUV, the E-Pace, received a slew of updates for the 2021 model year. The British automaker recently revealed the latest iteration of the compact SUV highlighting an enhanced exterior, a newly crafter interior, and exciting powertrain options to choose from. 

Starting with the exterior, the E-Pace has a new front fascia with a designed bumper and grille that incorporates mesh design with diamond detailing. The new headlight cluster features ‘Double J’ DRLs that can be optioned with Pixel LED tech. At the rear end, the updates include a new mesh insert and new LED taillights with a chicane-inspired graphic. Jaguar also offers a Black exterior pack with Narvik Black detailings.

Moving inside, where the 2021 Jaguar E-Pace now comes with a curved 11.4-inch HD touchscreen allowing access to Jaguar Pivi or Pivi Pro software. The company has paid much attention here as the screen's glass has two coatings, one reduces glare, and the other makes it easier to wipe fingerprints. Other updates comprise a redesigned driver selector, soft-touch materials on the driver touchpoints, new metallic trims, and a 15W wireless device charger. Jaguar has also fitted a new steering wheel, which is inspired by the I-Pace EV.

Coming to the powertrain options, the automaker offers the 2021 E-Pace in five petrol and three diesel engine choices, out of which four petrol and two diesel units are mild hybrids. Sitting at the base of the lineup is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-pot mill generating 247 hp and 365 Nm of torque. It is mated to a nine-speed automatic gearbox and an all-wheel-drive system. The new for 2021 is the 300 Sport model that incorporates a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine teamed up with mild-hybrid technology to produce an impressive 296 hp and 400 Nm of torque.

Jaguar also upgraded the chassis architecture with new engine mounts which improve throttle response. The enhanced front suspension attachment is also noticed in the upgrades.

The 2021 Jaguar E-Pace is now available to order in the UK, where the price starts from GBP 32,575 (RM 175,807). The 2020 E-Pace retails for RM 403,216 in the local market.
