2020 Perodua Bezza - Key highlights

Bezza is one of the leading names in the A-segment sedan category which makes it quite an important car for Perodua. Also, the fact that it is the only sedan Perodua has got, makes it even more significant for the company. So, perhaps, keeping that in mind, after almost three and a half years of its initial launch, Perodua has now launched the updated 2020 Bezza in Malaysia.

2020 Perodua Bezza isn’t an entirely new model and thus, could be considered as a major facelift. It is available in a total of 4 trims with a price range of RM 34,580 - RM 49,980. It comes with two engine options - 1.0-litre (67 bhp / 91 Nm) and 1.3-litre (94 bhp / 121 Nm).

So, what exactly are the key highlights of the 2020 Perodua Bezza? We’re here to find just that.

Sportier front end

Everyone likes to have a sporty-looking car these days and, probably, that’s why Perodua altered a few bits and pieces of the 2020 Bezza’s front end to make it sportier than before. We get a pair of sleeker and slimmer headlamps which are now full-LED units, first in an A-segment sedan. We also get a revised front grille and a sportier front bumper which somehow makes the car look lower and closer to ground. Perodua could have made things even better by adding LED daytime running lights. Sadly, they aren’t present.

Improved rear passenger comfort

Even though the Bezza had a generous amount of interior space, the weird recline angle of its rear seats made travelling longer distances a bit uncomfortable for the rear passengers. Perodua has addressed this problem by altering the recline angle in the new 2020 Bezza. Now, the rear seats offer better passenger comfort.

Talking about seats and interior, the 2020 Perodua Bezza comes with leather seats also and there are some new touches in its interior like-

• Silver bar on the dash
• Silver highlights around the AC vents
• Leather-wrapped steering wheel
• Redesigned instrument cluster graphics
• Smart Entry with Smart Key and Push Start/Stop Button
• Multimedia System with Navigation and ‘Smart Link’ (For Android Only)
• Handphone Slot and USB Port (Rear Console)

Class-leading boot space

Not only the Bezza comes with impressive interior space but it also has a class-leading boot space of 508-litres. Perodua has also added clever storage spaces like a luggage net and an under-luggage compartment for better space utilisation and management.

Added safety

The biggest change in the 2020 Perodua Bezza specs sheet has to be in the safety department. The new Bezza comes with Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) system and Perodua’s safety package called Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) 2.0 which includes active safety features like Pre-Collision System (Braking up to 80 kmph and Warning up to 100 kmph) with pedestrian detection (up to 50 kmph), along with Front Departure Alert and Pedal Misoperation Control. These features make the Bezza one of the safest A-segment sedans available in the market right now.

It is because of these safety features that the 2020 Perodua Bezza gets a perfect 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating.

Fuel efficient engine

Handsome fuel efficiency has always been one of Bezza’s strongest points and in its latest 2020 avatar, it will continue to keep its customers happy because Perodua didn’t change the engine options. The new Bezza comes with the same engines - 1.0-litre and 1.3-litre petrol units. Following are their detailed specifications-

 

Perodua says that its EEV engines are built lightweight and compact to improve fuel consumption, as well as reduce levels of vibration and noise. It claims 2020  Bezza fuel consumption of 21 km/l to 22.8 km/l.

These were the key highlights of the new Bezza, a car which is certainly an improvement over its predecessor.
