2020 Honda Jazz spy shots; to debut at Tokyo Motor Show
KUALA LUMPUR: The popular Japanese automaker, Honda, has confirmed that the next-generation Jazz will make its debut at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show, which will start from October 24 to November 4. It is also confirmed that this popular B-segment hatch will get a hybrid powertrain setup as per the manufacturer’s electrification plan.
During the press release the carmaker confirms the hatch’s arrival and Honda spokesperson said, “Without compromising the outstanding usability of the current Fit, the all-new Fit will come to market as a vehicle which will ensure occupant comfort and make their daily lives even more enjoyable.”
Along with the big news of the hatch’s arrival, the carmaker also confirmed that the Intelligent Dual Clutch Drive (i-DCD) powertrain would be replaced by a smaller version of dual-motor Intelligent Multi-mode Drive (i-MMD). As per the manufacturer, the new system will take less space as the outgoing seven-speed dual-clutch transmission will not be present. This results in an even more spacious interior.
However, as of now, the carmaker has not spoiled the party by revealing the full details. But it is expected that the usual range of petrol engines will be provided, however, the European-spec version will only get the hybrid options. Other features like the fold-up Ultra Seats and centre-mounted fuel tank will be retained.
Some jazz spy shots are floating on the internet these days. These speculate that the hot hatch will get a softer and rounded design. The headlights will be taller, and the grille slimmer. Along with these, there will be smaller air intakes that will provide a similar face with the first two generations. The side face of the car can also be more organic than before, and the wider taillights will be provided on the current model.
