2020 Honda City brochure leaked, gets Honda Connect and Lane Watch

KUALA LUMPUR: According to the reports from Autocar India, the 2020 Honda City that first made its debut in Thailand in November last year, is all set to serve the Indian buyers. The post also included a leaked brochure, detailing some of the features that will be made available to the customers.

The 2020 City will be offered in three variants - V, VX, and top-spec ZX. The one in the image is the range-topping trim, and based on what we see it will come with full-LED headlamps, LED taillights, leather upholstery, a 7-inch full-color multi-info instrument cluster display, an electric powered sunroof, and soft-touch materials covering the dashboard.

Taking care of entertainment is the 8-inch touchscreen system compatible with Alexa Remote and Andriod Auto and Apple CarPlay support. The Indian-spec City will come with app-based connectivity in the form of Honda Connect that uses the telematics control unit to share the vehicle’s status details remotely.

As for the safety kit, the ZX trim is equipped with six airbags, Hill Start Assist (HSA), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with Agile Handling Assist (AHA), a reverse camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and traction control.

What’s surprising is that the City is also equipped with Honda’s LaneWatch system that is usually seen in high-end models like Accord and Civic. The said system features a camera and a passenger-side wing mirror that transmits a feed to the centre screen, thus providing the driver with a better view of the left-side of the car. However, suiting the local traffic conditions, the India-spec model will have the camera mounted on the arm of the side mirror.

No engine details were mentioned in the leaked brochure, but according to the earlier reports, the Indian-spec City will run on 1.5-litre petrol and diesel powertrain, with former being an i-VTEC unit with 121 PS and two transmission choices - manual and CVT. As for the diesel option, it will be the tried and tested i-DTEC turbodiesel unit meeting the Indian emission standard.
