2019 Toyota Avanza images revealed ahead of its debut

KUALA LUMPUR: The 2019 Toyota Avanza is set to debut soon. However, ahead of the official introduction, a few images of the Indonesian spec model have surfaced on social media. As a matter of fact, the Avanza is sold in Indonesia as the Daihatsu Xenia.

The new Toyota Avanza is having a lot of visual updates starting from the bolder front profile to the calm and composed rear. The headlamps are sleek and the bumper gets more prominent slats. The lip spoiler has a thin black strip that joins the two fog lamps. The rear profile has an L-shaped split tail light cluster on either side and there is a thin strip of the stop light on the rear roof spoiler as well. A shark fin antenna can also be seen behind the spoiler.

The settings inside the cabin are mostly unchanged. However, a few things have been tweaked to add an upmarket feel. For an example, the round knobs for the air-conditioning have been replaced with a digital screen and buttons. The dashboard looks premium with better build quality. The head unit also looks much more urban now.

Mechanically, the 2019 Toyota Avanza that will be sold in the Indonesian market will be available with two engine options. The smaller unit is a 1.3-litre motor making 96.5 PS of power and 120 Nm of torque while the bigger 1.5-litre engine churns out 104 PS of power and 136 Nm of torque. The power is channelled to the wheels via either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission unit.
