2019 Proton Iriz previewed in Malaysia, variant details revealed

KUALA LUMPUR: The 2019 Proton Iriz has been previewed with the full list of variants and details of upgrades it has received over its predecessor. The manufacturer has also announced that an online flash booking event of 2019 Iriz at just RM 9.99 will be held between 1st and 11th March 2019.

The award-winning B-segment sedan, Iriz is the first model by Proton to receive a facelift after the brand's collaboration with Geely. The new model will arrive in five different variants - Standard 1.3L CVT, Standard 1.3L MT, Executive 1.3L CVT, Premium 1.6L CVT, and Executive 1.6L CVT.

The first three variants are powered by a naturally-aspirated four-cylinder 1.3-litre VVT engine, which offers a maximum power of 94 hp and the peak torque sticks at 120 Nm. While the last two variants will have a 1.6-litre unit, which is tuned to produce 107 hp of power and 150 Nm of peak torque.

The Standard 1.3L variants come with halogen headlamps, while the other three trims feature automatic units. The ‘ethereal bow’ grille with chrome highlighting adds to its stylish look at the front. The front bumper is all-new and houses slim LED DRLs. The car rides on 15-inch alloy wheels, and there’s a new bumper at the rear as well.

Inside, the LCD multi-info instrument cluster display comes standard in all the variants. Also, the seats are wrapped in fabric upholstery, and you get two rear USB charging ports. The Executive 1.3L CVT, Executive 1.6L CVT, and Premium 1.6L CVT also feature a seven-inch touch screen with four speakers and smartphone connectivity.

Safety features include two airbags, front parking sensors, ESC, traction control, front parking sensors as standard. The braking system comes with ABS with EBD.
