2018 Volkswagen Golf R-Line is now available with leather seats

KUALA LUMPUR: Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM), the dealer of Volkswagen cars in Malaysia has confirmed the availability of the 2018 VW Golf R-Line with Vienna leather seats. Unlike the previous batch of the Golf R-Line which came with Zoom fabric upholstery, the new R-Line gets its seats covered in premium leather with R-Line logos embossed on the front backrests.

This is not the first time that the leather seats are a part of the R-Line’s specifications. Earlier this March, when the car was first launched the R-Line came with leather seats which later were replaced by Sportline’s fabric upholstery. This is to confirm that leather seats are back on the 2018 VW Golf R-Line.

In addition to Vienna leather seats, the Golf R-Line gets an exterior package that includes exclusive bumpers at the front as well as at the back and a sports diffuser with chrome garnishing fitted at the rear. Other notable features on the R-Line include an 8-inch Composition Media infotainment system, a 12.3-inch Active Info Display, dual-zone climate control and rearview camera. More to the list are features like LED projector headlamps, LED tail lamps, seven airbags and the 17-inch Singapore alloys that shod with 225/45 section tyres.

Powering the R-Line is the same 1.4-litre turbocharged, four-cylinder TSI engine that features on the Sportline. The power and torque are rated at 150 PS at 5,000 rpm to 6,000 rpm and 250 Nm at 1,500 rpm to 3,500 rpm respectively. The Golf R-Line can clock a speed of 100 kmph in just 8.2 seconds while attaining the top speed of 216 kmph. The engine is coupled to a 7-speed dual-clutch direct-shift gearbox (DSG) with an extended differential lock.

The new 2018 Golf R-Line with leather seats is available at a net price of RM159,888 while the on-the-road (OTR) price of the same is RM160,608 without insurance.
