2016 Audi RS Q3 Revamped: BMW X1 Prestige on Stake
Kuala Lumpur: The 2016 Audi RS Q3 recently got unveiled with more power and torque as compared to the previous version. Making its global premiere at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, this car would go into production later this year. Here in Malaysia, Audi Q3 facelift was launched recently in October 2015 just after its BMW rival X1 was launched. So if this new power enhanced version comes to Malaysia, then it would give a tough competition to BMW X1.
Under the hood, this new version would be powered by a 2.5-litre turbocharged 5-cylinder engine which will churn out an extra 27 hp with a total power of 362 hp. Along with that, it boasts of a commanding torque of 465 Nm at 1625-5500 rpm. On the other hand, BMW X1 is employed with a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine which delivers a maximum power of 192 hp along with a peak torque of 280 Nm at 1250 rpm. We can see how the RS Q3 has taken a massive lead in the power segment, as BMW lags way behind here. Further, the more powerful RS Q3 is mated with a seven-speed S tronic dual clutch transmission which sends power to all the four wheels and helps it to complete a century sprint in just 4.4 seconds along with a top speed of 270 kmph. While X1 completes a century sprint in 7.7 seconds along with a top speed of 225 kmph and again we can see how Audi Q3 RS has improved in an effective manner. This makes RS Q3 way more faster as compared to X1. Even in respect of engine and performance, the new Audi RS Q3 comes out to be a true winner.
This car has gone through a number of tweaks even towards its exterior. A new matte titanium finish is given to its grille surroundings, air intakes, diffuser, roof rails, exterior mirror caps and roof edge spoiler. Moreover, it gets a new Ascari Blue Metallic paintwork and rides on new 20-inch alloy wheels. Inside, seats are finished in a combination of leather and Alcantara along with a lot of blue accents throughout its cabin. Towards the exterior, both X1 and RS Q3 looks equally aggressive and inherit similar styling features.
Talking about pricing, BMW X1 is currently available in Malaysia with a starting price tag of RM279,800 while the new Audi RS Q3 price would come to RM295,000. With such a competitive price and better engine and performance, this Audi crossover would definitely rule the Malaysian automotive market.
