2015 Ford Focus facelift marks a debut at IIMS
Kuala Lumpur: The 2015 Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) witnessed the launch of a facelifted Ford Focus which would be made available in a hatchback as well as sedan versions. Currently, the hatchback version in a trendy blue colour has been showcased on the show which has a striking resemblance to its overpowering ST sibling. The model was launched last year globally and features subtle revisions to its exterior.
Towards the front facade, one can notice a honeycombed trapezoidal grille along with a slimmer and sleeker headlights. The same honeycomb pattern can also be seen around the fog lights and air intakes. The body-kit that runs around the front splitter would add a lower intake as well. Ford Focus would continue to retain its body lines which run throughout the length of the car. At the rear end, you can again notice the honeycomb design flowing through the diffuser which gives a symmetry to the car. The bumper and taillights have also been redesigned to give it a sportier look.
Moving towards the interior, it comes with Ford SYNC 2 system and voice control system which would now understand more language commands as compared to the original SYNC. This screen is further assisted with a reverse camera and satellite navigation. The centre console has also been revamped with the Sony head unit which is a lot simpler to use now and has more organized audio control buttons. One can also notice a three-spoke steering wheel along with a slimmer central tunnel.
Replacing the 2.0-litre mill would be the new 1.5-litre EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine. This engine would be capable of making 180 PS at 6000 rpm and 240 Nm at 5000 rpm. A conventional six-speed torque converter automatic transmission would replace the six-speed Powershift dual-clutch transmission.
Ford Focus would be made available in three variants. The base variant dubbed as Trend hatch would be rolled out with a price tag of RM119,700. In this variant, the original SYNC system would be integrated with a 4.2-inch screen and a six-speaker sound system with steering wheel audio controls. Further, the safety features would include dual airbags, ABS, stability control and hill launch assist. Moreover, it would be anchored with 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels as well.
Moving up, the Sport hatch variant would gain smoked headlights along with LED daytime running lights and taillights with Led light guides. Its nine-speaker Sony sound system is also integrated with the SYNC 2 system. Other features in this variant include keyless entry, push start button, front parking sensors, auto lights and wipers, dual-zone auto air conditioning system, a four-way power-adjustable driver's seat along with leather upholstery. The safety features would include a six-airbag system, active city stop and enhanced active park assist. All these features along with the car would cost you around RM130,900.
The range-topping variant is dubbed as Titanium sedan which would be integrated with same aforesaid features but a different five-spoke wheel design. This top variant comes with a price of RM144,000. No matter which variant you choose, it will be powered solely by the new 1.5-litre EcoBoost engine.
