2024 Volkswagen Touareg: All you need to know

The official distributor of Volkswagen cars in Malaysia, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has recently expanded its lineup with the launch of the all-new Touareg. This luxurious SUV is offered as a CKD model here, marking Malaysia as the first country outside Slovakia to locally assemble the Touareg.

VPCM offers the new Touareg in a sole R-Line variant, priced at RM 472,272 (on the road without insurance). Included in the price is a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty, 5 years of maintenance, and 5 years of complimentary roadside assistance.

Under the hood, the 2024 Volkswagen Touareg is fitted with a 3.0-litre V6 TSI engine that kicks out a maximum power of 340 PS and a peak torque of 450 Nm. The power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission mated to 4MOTION all-wheel drive (AWD) system. The latter continuously monitors and adjusts the power distribution between the front and rear wheels to ensure optimal traction and handling on the road, explains the automaker.

The Driving Mode Selection provides drivers with a choice of six different driving modes.

• Normal for balanced driving
• Sport for dynamic handling
• Individual for customised settings
• Off-road for challenging terrains

In terms of performance, the SUV runs from a standstill to 100 kmph in six seconds and hits an electronically-limited top speed of 250 kmph.

Based on the automaker’s MLB Evo platform, the massive five-seater SUV measures 4,878 mm in length, 1,984 mm in width, and 1,702 mm in height. The wheelbase is measured at 2,894 mm wheelbase.

The front end incorporates a large and wide front grille integrated with the IQ.Light HD headlights and L-shaped LED daytime running light.
