2024 Mini Aceman EV: Detailed in pics

With the increasing popularity of electric vehicles, automakers are expanding their electric vehicle portfolio to meet evolving consumer demands. The recent player that entered the Malaysia electric vehicle arena is the Mini Aceman.

The  Mini Aceman is an all-electric crossover that bridges the gap between the already popular Cooper and the larger Countryman. It is a compact yet versatile option for those seeking sustainable mobility without compromising on style or performance.

Mini Malaysia offers the Aceman in a sole SE trim, priced at RM 213,888 (on-the-road without insurance) with a standard two-year, unlimited-mileage warranty. However, with the optional four-year warranty and service package, the EV retails for RM 221,288.

Exterior

The exterior styling of the Mini Aceman SE underpins the brand’s ‘Charismatic Simplicity’ design approach. It boasts an edge factor, attracting both existing Mini fans and new customers interested in electric mobility. The key highlights are as follows - 

Striking front face

The EV has a striking front design featuring an eye-catching octagonal grille, which sets the tone for the vehicle’s dynamic character. The grille has a modern flat design instead of the traditional hexagonal shape seen on the previous Mini models. It is finished in a body colour that enhances its contemporary appeal. 

Unique headlights

The new Mini Aceman features angular contours leading to uniquely shaped headlights. The lighting units come with powerful LED technology, three optional light signatures, and cornering lights for enhanced side visibility. Different lighting signatures include welcome and goodbye features projecting a logo from the side mirrors.

Stylish wheels

The Aceman has a muscular stance, highlighted by sculpted wheel arches and stylish 19-inch ‘Hexagram’ spoke wheels. These lightweight wheels are made from recycled aluminium, helping to reduce the car's carbon footprint.

Flush-fitted door handles

Union Jack tail lights

Circular touchscreen unit

Hop inside the Aceman SE and you will be greeted by the brand’s signature circular OLED touchscreen display. It measures 9.4 inches and combines sleek design with advanced technology. It offers a crisp and vivid interface, serving as both the instrument cluster and infotainment hub. 

The head unit supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and “Hey MINI” voice assistant. The latter can operate key functions like navigation, phone calls, temperature, weather report etc. It also comes mated to a premium Harman Kardon surround sound system offering an immersive, high-tech experience.

Mini Experience modes 

These modes create a unique, multi-sensory experience for both drivers and passengers. These modes offer various creative designs and sound palettes, transforming the interior into a personalised environment.

3D knitted textile dashboard

The dashboard of the EV is adorned with a textured, 3D knitted textile that enhances both the aesthetic and tactile quality of the interior. 

Classic Go-kart steering wheel

Inspired by Mini’s sporting heritage, the steering wheel features two spokes and a stylish fabric strap on the 6 o'clock spoke. It integrates essential functions, with driver assistance systems on the left and entertainment and communication controls on the right. For added comfort, it comes with the optional heating functionality.

New toggle bar 

Further enhancing the driving experience is a new toggle bar equipped with intuitive controls. It integrates key functions such as the parking brake, gears, Mini Experience Modes, and audio into a sleek, redesigned interface. The bar is ergonomically designed to ensure that these essential controls are easily accessible.

Wireless smartphone charging tray

The new Mini EV also comes equipped with a wireless charging pad, allowing for convenient, cable-free charging on the go.

JCW Sports Seats 

The EV gets John Cooper Works Sports Seats offering a blend of style and comfort. The front seats are electronically adjustable, allowing for easy customization, and come equipped with a memory function. Both the driver and front passenger seat also feature heating functionality.

Recycled fabrics & textiles

The eco-friendly interior boasts exciting substitutes for leather. The innovative seat surfaces, dashboard, and door armrests are made of quality knitted textiles made of recycled polyester yarn.

It is derived from an innovative process that converts over 90% of recycled polyester fibres into a 2D flat woven fabric. The process uses around 98% less water than cotton, and it reduces CO2 emissions by around 80% compared to conventional polyester processing.

Dimensions

The new Aceman SE measures 4,079 mm in length, 1,754 mm in width, and 1,514 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,606 mm. The boot capacity is measured at 300 with all the seats intact, however, it can be expanded by folding the 60/40 split rear seats. The capacity increases to 700 litres with one rear seat folded and 900 litres with both rear seats down.

Colours

The 2024 Mini Aceman SE comes in three exterior colour options - Rebel Red, Melting Silver, and Indigo Sunset Blue. All are available with black roof and side mirror caps.

Drivetrain, range, and charging

The Aceman SE is powered by a front-mounted electric motor generating a maximum power of  218 PS and a peak torque of 330 Nm. Feeding the e-motor is a 54.2 kWh NCM battery pack, which lets the EV cruise up to 406 km on a single charge. With the help of 95 kW DC charging, the battery juices up from 10 to 80% in just 30 minutes.
