2024 Lexus LM: Variants explained

Lexus recently introduced the all-new second-gen LM in the Malaysian market. Based on the brand’s GA-K platform, the luxury MPV is offered in two variants here - LM350h and LM500h, priced at RM 1,228,000 and RM 1,468,000, respectively. Differentiating these variants is the powertrain, seating capacity, and a few other luxe features. Let’s know all the distinctions in detail -

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How much does the Lexus LM cost?

The Lexus LM price in Malaysia begins at RM 1,228,000 and goes all the way up to RM 1,468,000.
  • Which Lexus LM variant should I choose?

Both LM variants are exquisitely luxurious, providing a sophisticated driving experience to passengers. If you need seating for seven occupants and prefer a more fuel-efficient option, choose the LM350h. However, if you prioritise performance and a more exclusive interior, the LM500h is more appropriate.
  • Engine specs

As mentioned above, the Malaysia-spec Lexus LM variants come powered by different hybrid engine setups. The LM350h is equipped with a combination of a 190 PS 2.5-litre Dynamic Force naturally-aspirated gasoline VVT-iE mill and an 182 PS/270 Nm twin electric motor setup. The combined output of the system is rated at 250 PS and 239 Nm, transferred to the front wheels via an e-CVT gearbox. Performance-wise, this LM model runs from a standstill to 100 kmph in 9.1 seconds and clocks a top speed of 190 kmph.

On the contrary, the top-spec LM500h houses a 2.4-litre turbo Dual VVT-i four-cylinder engine that generates a maximum power of 275 PS and a peak torque of 460 Nm. It is paired with a front and a rear motor tuned to produce 87 PS/292 Nm and 103 PS/169 Nm, respectively. Together, the setup kicks out a combined output of 371 PS and 550 Nm.

As for the transmission, it gets a 6-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission, sending power to all four wheels of the MPV. The LM500h can complete the century sprint faster than the LM350h, taking 2.2 seconds less at 6.9 seconds. The top speed is rated at 185 kmph.

    Seating

The new Lexus LM comes in two seating configurations in Malaysia. The LM350h is kitted with seven seats in a 2-2-3 layout, offering enough space for a larger family or group. It incorporates electrically adjustable captain seats in the second row and three seats at the back. There is a 14-inch ceiling-mounted rear monitor available for the rear passengers.

On the contrary, the LM500h offers seating space for four passengers with seats configured in a 2-2 layout. The business class-style seats in the second row mimic the ones found in private jets, first-class commercial airline cabins, and cruiser boats. They are ergonomically optimised and incorporate an anti-vibration frame and bowed armrests for optimal comfort. These are “among the most advanced and comfortable ever crafted by Lexus.”

The seats can be fully reclined and include an ottoman, along with heating, ventilation, and massage features. Occupants can control these functions with removable tablet devices similar to smartphones. A bigger 48-inch widescreen display is mounted on a partition between the front and rear cabins.

    Suspension

In terms of suspension setup, both MPVs come equipped with improved MacPherson struts at the front and Double wishbone at the rear, promising a more controlled driving experience, higher passenger comfort levels, and a roomier interior. They also feature the Adaptive Variable Suspension system for “improved stability and superior steering response for a comfortable ride.”
