If you are someone who prefers his motorcycle to look authentic and stay pure to the design ethos of modern classics, the Triumph Thruxton RS will surely appeal to you. It has got the timeless appeal of a true neo-retro motorcycle, and add in the pure café racer appeal, and it looks even more irresistible.

At the front, the Triumph Thruxton RS has got a rounded headlamp, which is flanked with two small and rounded amber turn indicators. All these lighting units have simple halogen bulbs and are not LED operated, which might look dated to some. This RS variant has specified golden-coloured forks at the front, which further make it look more premium. The short front fender with side-placed aluminium clamps adds a further touch of high-quality appeal.

The side profile of the Triumph Thruxton RS looks neat and simple, and that’s the very visual appeal that makes it special. The motorcycle has a long fuel tank with rounded knee recesses, while the side body cowls look boxy with a three-dotted design adding a special bit to their appearance. The spoke wheels and engine are all finished in a matte theme of black, while the dual-sided exhaust pipes have a brushed aluminium feel to their finish.

Towards the rear, the Triumph Thruxton RS gets a minimalist approach to its design, with the rounded and tapered cowl for the single café-racer style seat and a chopped design for the rear fender. The rounded tail lamp and turn indicators here are also halogen units, thus retaining the old-world charm of the model.

The Triumph Thruxton RS gets a very sporty rider’s cockpit, as it has clip-on handlebars with bar-end rounded rearview mirrors. The motorcycle gets a dual-pod instrument console with analogue dials for the speedometer and tachometer in one each. The fuel gauge, trip meter and odometer are displayed in a separate LCD panel within one of the two pods. Even the handlebar levers and pillion footrest clamps are finished in silver, which further accentuates the sporty appeal of the Triumph Thruxton RS.

The Triumph Thruxton RS shares its basic tubular steel cradle frame with the standard Thruxton. However, the other mechanical components are more premium here, which justify the RS tag in its name. The Triumph Thruxton RS is adorned with a suspension combination of 43mm fully-adjustable Showa upside-down hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and fully-adjustable Ohlins twin shockers with a piggyback reservoir at the rear. Both the suspension units offer a travel of 120mm. The motorcycle is armed with a braking setup of 310mm dual discs at the front and a single 220mm disc at the back.

The Triumph Thruxton RS is powered by a four-stroke, liquid-cooled, 270-degree parallel-twin, 1,200cc engine, which is the biggest twin-cylinder engine Triumph currently offers globally. The engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox and produces a maximum power output of 105 PS and a peak torque output of 112 Nm. The power and torque figures are punchy for a long-stroke motor of this size, which gives an abundant amount of torque to the Triumph Thruxton RS in its mid-range.

The Triumph Thruxton RS might not be the most equipped motorcycle for its price. However, for a modern classic, the motorcycle has a fair amount of features, which include dual-channel ABS, three riding modes – rain, road and sport and traction control.

The Triumph Thruxton RS is more than just a beautiful piece of art on two wheels. It gets a punchy motor and premium suspension and brakes, all of which combine to give an unparalleled riding experience that a modern classic truly deserves to offer.
