With the Avenis 125, Suzuki is set to foray into the affordable end of the scooter market in Malaysia, which exists below the RM 10,000 mark. The Suzuki Avenis 125 is a sporty-looking step-through scooter, which has been designed and engineered by the Japanese two-wheeler’s arm in India and is destined to be sold as a direct import from India. Suzuki Avenis 125 Design

The Suzuki Avenis 125 looks fresh and youthful with the edgy design language it wears, and coupling it with the striking colour combinations in which it is offered, its sportiness reaches a whole new level. There are a few modern elements and features offered in the Avenis 125, which further add newness to the whole package.

Starting from the front, the Suzuki Avenis 125 comes with a sharp-looking dual-tone apron, which is adorned with a host of cuts and creases and comes fitted with a striking all-LED headlamp at the bottom of its lower part. The handlebar cowl, finished in a two-tone treatment, also comes integrated with clear lens turn indicators on either side, along with a black tinted visor placed in the middle. The lower sides of the front apron and the front mudguard also have been given a pointed look to go well with the overall sporty theme of the scooter.

From the side, the Suzuki Avenis 125 continues its sportiness and aggression with the well-sized side body panels, which also come with edges and dual-tone treatment. The floorboard might look small at first but is decently large enough to accommodate the knees and legs of a full-sized rider. The lower panel below the floorboard sports the brand’s name and the aluminium pillion footrests. The scooter comes with a blacked-out theme for its alloy wheels – 12 inches at the front and 10 inches at the rear.

Towards the back, the Suzuki Avenis 125 gets a similar sporty treatment with split LED tail lamps at the back and split pillion grab rails at the rear end of the long seat on offer. The Avenis 125 gets motorcycle-like clear lens turn indicators mounted on the sides of the rear fender. The small 10-inch wheel at the rear makes the rear three-quarter profile of the scooter slightly disproportionate in appearance, and a larger 12-inch wheel would have been a better fit.

The rider’s cockpit of the Suzuki Avenis 125 looks modern with the centrally-placed full LCD instrument console. This compact-sized panel displays a host of data, including speedometer, odometer, trip meters, fuel gauge, MID and Bluetooth connectivity details. The small fonts of the display unit can be hard to read at times while on the go.

Avenis 125 Ride & Handling

With a 12-inch wheel at the front and a 10-inch wheel at the rear, the Suzuki Avenis 125 gets a conventional suspension setup of telescopic forks at the front and a single-sided unit coil spring at the rear, all of which have been shared with the Access 125 and the Burgman Street 125. The braking setup on offer in the Avenis 125 includes a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear, which are accompanied by a combined braking system (CBS).

Suzuki Avenis 125 Engine & Fuel Consumption

The Suzuki Avenis 125 gets the same tried-and-tested four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 124cc engine, which has been doing duty on the other 125cc scooters from Suzuki’s Asian lineup, including the Access 125 and Burgman Street 125. This refined and torquey motor feels peppy on the go and churns out a maximum power output of 8.7 PS and a maximum torque output of 10 Nm.

Avenis 125 Braking & Safety

While the Suzuki Avenis 125 misses out on ABS, it does get a combined braking system (CBS) as a replacement. For an enhanced sense of safety and convenience, the Avenis 125 also gets a shutter mechanism for the ignition keyhole and external fuel filler cap above the tail lamp cluster.

Suzuki Avenis 125 Verdict

For anyone who intends to buy his first scooter, that is affordable and sporty at the same time, the Suzuki Avenis 125 makes a lot of sense with its stylish design, sporty colours, refined and proven performance and affordable pricing.
