Ducati Multistrada V2 Review 2024

With the Multistrada V2 S, Ducati has made the world-famous adventure tourer a bit more accessible to the people by positioning it below the bigger Multistrada V4. This new premium middleweight adventure tourer is based on the bigger V4 and shares much of its design language with it. A more road-biased motorcycle, the Ducati Multistrada V2 S is on sale in Malaysia with the colour options of Ducati Red and Street Grey, the latter of which gets red-coloured GP Red alloy wheels.

Ducati Multistrada V2 Design

The Ducati Multistrada V2 S is inspired by the bigger Multistrada V4 and doesn’t break the lineage in terms of its appearance. It is very much a Multistrada in the sense of design – it has a tall stance, with much of its sporty-looking bodywork at the front.

The front profile of the Ducati Multistrada V2 S has got a massive semi-fairing, in the middle of which the motorcycle gets two slim and angularly placed all-LED headlamps. While the upper part of this fairing comes attached with a tall and transparent windscreen, the lower part of the fairing gets two protruding air vents below the headlamps. These air vents are integrated into a separate housing which seamlessly integrates with the semi-fairing at the front. The Ducati Multistrada V2 S also gets handlebar crash guards, with the LED turn indicators integrated within them.

Move towards the side, and you will instantly feel that much of the visual bulk of the Ducati Multistrada V2 S is possessed by the large semi-fairing at the front. The fuel tank, though large, looks sleek in appearance. The semi-fairing also gets additional shrouds on either side of the frontal part of the fairing. The lower rear parts of the front semi-fairing blend with the minimalist side body panels, which flow towards the inclined tail section.

The tail section of the Ducati Multistrada V2 S is the only part of the motorcycle which looks utilitarian. However, it has a purposeful essence to it with luggage panniers on either side of the split pillion seat. The motorcycle also comes standard with a top box luggage mount behind the pillion seat, below which the motorcycle has a small LED tail lamp. The engine area also looks packed with a partially-exposed trellis frame above it and a thick engine cowl below it.

Much like other modern Ducati offerings, the Multistrada V2 S also gets a full-TFT 5-inch instrument console, which reads out plenty of information while on the go. The display unit has customizable screen modes, which makes it an even more interesting unit to look at.

Multistrada V2 Ride & Handling

The Ducati Multistrada V2 S is not a hardcore off-roader, but the tall stance and rugged chassis of the motorcycle allow it to do mild off-roading with ease. The motorcycle is armed with a suspension combination of 48mm upside-down hydraulic telescopic forks with compression and rebound damping at the front and mono-shock with dual-sided aluminium swingarm, compression and rebound damping and spring pre-load adjustment at the rear. This suspension unit is electronically adjustable as a part of the Ducati Skyhook Suspension Evo package. Riding on 120/70 ZR19 front and 170/60 ZR17 rear Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tyres, the Ducati Multistrada V2 S is equipped with dual 320mm discs with four-piston callipers and a single 265mm disc with a two-piston calliper at the rear for stopping duties.

Ducati Multistrada V2 Engine & Fuel Consumption

The new Ducati Multistrada V2 S gets the same four-stroke, L-Twin, Testastretta, liquid-cooled, 937cc engine which powers a few other motorcycles from Ducati like the Supersport 950 and Monster. The maximum power and torque outputs of the Ducati Multistrada V2 S are rated at 113 bhp and 94 Nm respectively, thus making it the most powerful motorcycle among the premium middleweight adventure tourers. The engine here is coupled to a 6-speed gearbox.

Multistrada V2 Braking & Safety

The Ducati Multistrada V2 S has a decently long list of features for a safer and comfortable riding experience, which includes power modes, ride modes, cornering ABS, traction control, backlit switchgear, self-cancelling turn indicators, bi-directional quick-shifter and vehicle hold control. In addition to these features, Ducati Multimedia System, tyre pressure monitoring system and anti-theft system are available as optional extras.

Ducati Multistrada V2 Verdict

The Ducati Multistrada V2 S is one of the most well-kitted and premium motorcycles in its category of higher-end of middleweight adventure tourers. While the Ducati Multistrada V2 S is not a proper off-road motorcycle, it performs mild off-roading duties and long highway runs without breaking a sweat. The 937cc Testastretta engine is easily the benchmark of the performance in its segment, which is well complemented with other premium mechanical bits of the motorcycle.
